10-Gb/s, 20-km VCSEL Optical Access Link at 1.5 μm with 23-dB Power Budget

Optical Fiber Communication Conference, 2014
We demonstrate 23-dB power budget of a 20-km unamplified optical access system using a 1.54-μm, 10-Gb/s VCSEL. It is enabled by using continuous-phase frequency-shift keying/amplitude-shift keying format, DC-balanced line coding, and avalanche photo-detector.

200Gb/s Bi-Directional TDM-PON with 29-dB Power Budget

European Conference on Optical Communication, 2021
We demonstrate the first 200-Gb/s (100-GBaud PAM-4) TDM-PON using directly modulated lasers and direct detection. We achieve >29-dB link power budget by combining distributed Raman amplification over 21-km fiber and an SOA-based pre-amplifier.

Dispersion tolerant 200 Gb/s dual-wavelength IM/DD transmission with 33dB link budget for next generation PON

European Conference on Optical Communication, 2023
We demonstrate 2x100Gb/s 20km fibre transmission achieving -25dBm sensitivity around 1340nm resulting in 33dB link budget. This is achieved by two EML-SOAs with 13.5dBm output power and negative chirp parameter to overcome chromatic dispersion, enabling ...

Optimal power budget in quasi-linear dispersion-managed fiber links

The 15th Annual Meeting of the IEEE Lasers and Electro-Optics Society, 2003
We have developed a theory of power budget optimization in dispersion-managed cascaded optical amplifier systems. It can be used for a variety of systems and can be easily generalized for more complex configurations. Applying our general results to a specific configuration we analyzed a novel design of the transmission system with periodically ...

Joint Power Optimization of PTMP Coherent Architecture for Improving Link Budget in Downlink Transmission

Asia Communications and Photonics Conference/International Conference on Information Photonics and Optical Communications 2020 (ACP/IPOC), 2020
A joint power optimization method is proposed for the downlink in point-to-multipoint structure based on digital subcarriers. 2.3 dB power budget gain was achieved experimentally with eight 4 GBaud 16QAM subcarriers with a distance difference of 24 km.

System power budget analysis of microwave radio links in Adana region

15th International Conference on Microwaves, Radar and Wireless Communications (IEEE Cat. No.04EX824), 2004
In this work, numerical analysis of system power budget is performed for radio link network design and transmission planning purposes; measured and calculated results are compared in order to analyse microwave radio link performance in Adana region under different conditions.

Link budgets for backscatter radio and RFID systems using power-optimized waveforms

2013 IEEE Antennas and Propagation Society International Symposium (APSURSI), 2013
This paper presents forward and backscatter link budgets for systems that utilize power-optimized waveforms (POWs) for passive backscatter radio communication. It has been shown how POWs increase the forward link limit while reducing the backscatter link limit of these systems when compared to continuous wave (CW) excitation.
