Variable Speed Limit Control Based on Extended Link Transmission Model
Transportation Research Record: Journal of the Transportation Research Board, 2013In this paper the link transmission model (LTM) is extended to include the effects of variable speed limit (VSL) and consequently to provide VSL control for traffic networks modeled by the LTM. The LTM was recently developed for route assignment, but in this study the LTM was modified to be used for control purposes. This modification achieved a model

A path link model for ultra wide band pulse transmissions
IEEE VTS 53rd Vehicular Technology Conference, Spring 2001. Proceedings (Cat. No.01CH37202), 2002Pulsed UWB (ultra wide band) signals are more nearly transient phenomena than they are continuous waves. Multipath effects for the most part manifest themselves as time delayed replicants of the pulses. Short pulses propagate with the free space law, and only when the differential delay among pulses and replicants is less than about half the pulse ...

Linear MPC-Based Urban Traffic Control Using the Link Transmission Model
IEEE Transactions on Intelligent Transportation Systems, 2020In this paper a novel computationally efficient model predictive control (MPC) method for optimizing flows at urban intersections is proposed. Several linear and quadratic MPC approaches have been developed in the literature to reduce the computational complexity of the problem, but without considering the back-propagating waves associated with ...

Generalized satellite link model and its application to the transmission plan
International Journal of Satellite Communications, 1987AbstractA generalized model for the satellite link that includes non‐linear effects is presented. The transponder is handled as a black box with nominal gain gs. At a specific operating point each signal in the transponder has its own gain, gsci, that may be different from gs.

Freeway traffic flow simulation using the Link Node Cell transmission model
2009 American Control Conference, 2009This paper illustrates the calibration and imputation procedure implemented to specify the inputs to the Link-Node Cell Transmission model used for simulating traffic flow in freeways. Traffic flow and occupancy data from loop detectors is used for calibrating these models and specifying the inputs to the simulation.

Analytical modeling of FWM noise power in raman amplified transmission links
2013 15th International Conference on Transparent Optical Networks (ICTON), 2013Closed-form analytical expressions for nonlinear noise power FWM density (IFWM) have been derived for Nyquist WDM systems as a function of the optical fiber and system parameters (i.e. dispersion, nonlinearity, power spectral density, and spectral efficiency) in case of near-zero fiber attenuation.
