Linkage Disequilibrium and Association Mapping
Annual Review of Genomics and Human Genetics, 2008Linkage disequilibrium refers to the association between alleles at different loci. The standard definition applies to two alleles in the same gamete, and it can be regarded as the covariance of indicator variables for the states of those two alleles. The corresponding correlation coefficient ρ is the parameter that arises naturally in discussions of ...

A look at linkage disequilibrium
Nature Genetics, 2000The extent of linkage disequilibrium critically determines the efficiency of strategies to identify genetic variants that predispose to human disease. New data indicate that the extent of disequilibrium is highly variable across the genome, and that differences in disequilibrium levels between isolated and mixed populations are modest.
