Gin Saw Thickness Impact on Lint Turnout, Lint Value, and Seed Damage
Applied Engineering in Agriculture, 2022HighlightsWe compared 0.91 to 1.14 mm thick gin saws by ginning seed cotton from three regions. The gap between the saw and rib was 0.914 mm for the thin saws and 0.800 mm for the thick ones.Response variables were tested using a sequentially reduced (backwards regression) model.Lint “turnout”, lint value, and seed damage did not appear to be ...

Modeling Cotton Lint Development
Transactions of the ASAE, 1981ABSTRACT THE development of a cotton lint production model is described for which inputs are mean daily air temperature and the time distribution of the initiation of boll increments. Data from model estimates are com-pared with data on field boll development collected in 1977 and 1978.

Byssinosis: Matter from Lint to Lungs
The American Journal of Nursing, 1973posed to dusts of cotton, flax, and soft hemp. Symptoms are more obvious on the first day back after a rest from exposure. The origins of the disorder probably date to the processing of cotton indoors in prehistoric Egypt. Despite a rich history with classic descriptions, this disease was denied in the United States by officials of the U.S.

Fractionation of Foreign Matter in Ginned Lint Before and After Lint Cleaning
Transactions of the ASABE, 2009One goal of lint cleaning at a cotton gin is to reduce the non-lint material to an acceptable level with minimal fiber damage. In an effort to improve lint cleaner performance, an initial study was conducted on lint collected before and after lint cleaning at nine commercial gins across the cotton belt to characterize non-lint content.
