The Lipoprotein and Lipid Pattern in Xanthomatosis
Acta Medica Scandinavica, 1975Abstract. The relation between xanthomatosis and plasma lipid and lipoprotein concentrations has been studied in 336 subjects (172 males and 164 females) with xanthomatosis. With a few exceptions, these patients were either born or lived in Østfold county, which has a population of about 220 000.

Fatty Acid Pattern of Human Prostasome Lipid
Archives of Biochemistry and Biophysics, 1998Prostasomes are organelles of prostatic origin found in human semen. Their average diameter is about 150 nm and they appear as a lipoprotein membrane surrounding less organized material. Their lipid composition is peculiar, having much cholesterol and sphingomyelin.

AbstractUnsaturation in fatty acids follows definite patterns. In the mono‐ethylenic acids a nine‐carbon chain occurs frequently on one side or the other of the double bond, a fact probably significant in relation to the structure of oleic acid. The non‐conjugated polyenoic acids fall mainly into three series, showing affinities with oleic, linoleic ...

Altered plasma lipid pattern in falciparum malaria
Annals of Tropical Medicine & Parasitology, 1992Plasma levels of HDL, LDL, total cholesterol and triglycerides were measured in 60 patients with falciparum malaria (37 severe cases and 23 mild) and in 83 healthy individuals, to study malaria-induced changes in plasma lipids. Triglyceride levels were lower in the patients than in the controls but the difference was significant only for those with ...

Lipid patterns in the saliva of smoking young adults
Human & Experimental Toxicology, 2011Salivary lipids are important for the maintenance of oral cavity health. Elevated salivary lipid levels are associated with an increase of caries incidence, plaque development, calculus formation and periodontal disease. However, the regulation of lipid salivary levels is scarcely known.

Tissue Lipid Patterns in a Case of Xanthoma Disseminatum
Archives of Internal Medicine, 1963Xanthoma disseminatum is a rare disease characterized by xanthomatous lesions composed of proliferating mature histiocytes, foam cells with high cholesterol content, eosinophils, Touton cells, and fibrosis. Plaquelike skin lesions are usually seen over flexor surfaces of joint areas with multiple organ systems involved.

Leptomeningeal lipid storage patterns in Fabry disease
Acta Neuropathologica, 1994We found two patterns of leptomeningeal storage that reflect two basic visceral storage patterns in Fabry disease. (i) A generalized-type leptomeningeal storage pattern, affecting all main leptomeningeal cell types (external arachnoideal epithelium, fibroblasts, vessel wall elements), was a consistent finding in three cases of classical generalized ...

Pattern Formation in Lipid Membranes
1987This paper draws attention to a class of pseudo-two-dimensional materials which are exceptional candidates for observing a variety of time-dependent effects, including fractal growth during crystallization, grain-boundary formation and dynamics, interfacial melting, and wetting. These materials are planar macromolecular aggregates formed by amphiphiles
