The Effects of Tertatolol on Lipid Profile
Cardiology, 2008Tertatolol is a noncardioselective beta-blocker without intrinsic sympathomimetic activity. In a preliminary 3-month open study, it was shown that T was devoid of any atherogenic effect since HDL-cholesterol (HDL-C) and apoprotein levels did not change for 3 months of therapy.

[Lipid and lipoprotein profile in psoriasis].
Bollettino della Societa italiana di biologia sperimentale, 1992Psoriasis is a common relapsing dermatosis characterized by an increased epidermal cell proliferation. In this work we studied the lipid and lipoprotein pattern in 17 patients affected by long-standing psoriasis and in 20 normal controls. Total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL-cholesterol and Apolipoprotein AI and B levels were measured; VLDL, LDL and ...

Antihypertensive Drugs and Lipid Profiles
American Journal of Hypertension, 1988The large clinical trials of the treatment of hypertension, in which diuretics were used as initial drug therapy, have demonstrated a major reduction in stroke but little benefit in the incidence of coronary heart disease. The limited effect of treatment on coronary disease is surprising given the strong risk factor relationship to pre-existing ...

Acebytolol effects on lipid profile
The American Journal of Cardiology, 1990The relation between lipid profile and the incidence of coronary artery disease has been confirmed by the results of epidemiologic and intervention studies. Among antihypertensive agents, beta blockers, particularly those without intrinsic sympathomimetic activity (ISA), are generally reported to have negative effects on lipids, which may increase the ...

The link between lipid abnormalities and CVD is well established. A lipid profile measures total cholesterol, HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, and triglycerides (TG). Abnormal blood lipid levels, which are high total cholesterol, high levels of triglycerides, high levels of LDL, and low levels of HDL cholesterol, increase the risk of heart disease and

The descriptive statistics regarding the serum total cholesterol in different study groups has been summarized in Table 7.1. The data were subjected to analysis of variance (Table 7.2) which indicated a significant effect of gender and age on all the study groups.

Carnitine and lipid profile in uremia.
La Clinica terapeutica, 1997Several authors have supplemented patients submitted to the hemodialytic treatment with L-carnitine, with the aim to affect the lipid profile often unfavourably altered in these patients. Different doses of the compound have been employed and the outcome in plasma lipid changes is very dissimilar.

Lipid profiles are only part of the cardiovascular status of the patient. Treatment should be directed at the cause and not the lipid profile numbers. The minority of patients with serious problems should be defined and treated and the others should be left alone.

Lipids and lipoproteins are risk factors for CHD. It has been demonstrated that high levels of serum total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), LDL cholesterol, very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), low concentration of HDL cholesterol, and increased body mass index (BMI) are significantly associated with CHD (George and Ludvik 2000).

Statistical analysis of the data indicated a significant effect of gender and age on all the study groups. A significant effect (P < 0.05) of age on total cholesterol level of both the genders was noted. Females less than 50 years of age had significantly (P < 0.05) lower serum total cholesterol level than their male counterparts.
