Matrix metalloproteinase‐9 (MMP9) drives ovarian cancer progression. Using MMP9‐null cells (M9‐KO) created from ovarian cancer cells, we found MMP9 loss did not block Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF)‐driven E‐cadherin dissolution or EMT but delayed and reduced EGF‐driven membrane protrusions. Transient MMP9 re‐expression drove membrane protrusion.

Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Systemic dysregulation of apolipoproteins in amyotrophic lateral sclerosis serum
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal disease that damages motor neurons. This study found that people with ALS show significant changes in blood fats and the proteins that carry them. Several apolipoproteins were higher, lipid balances were altered, and normal protein–lipid relationships were disrupted.

Topical timolol and lipid profile.
To evaluate the effects of topical timolol on lipid profile, blood samples from 25 patients (16 males and 9 females) were analysed before topical instillation of 0.5% timolol maleate and thereafter at one month and two months. After two months of therapy, the level of high density lipoprotein (HDL) decreased significantly (p < 0.02).

Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.

Intercompartmental communication in senescence
Senescent cells experience structural changes in the plasma membrane, endoplasmic reticulum, mitochondria, lysosomes, nucleus, and cytoskeleton. These alterations disrupt crosstalk among cellular compartments, impairing vesicular trafficking, contact sites, and molecular flow.

Cutaneous Melanoma Drives Metabolic Changes in the Aged Bone Marrow Immune Microenvironment
Melanoma, the deadliest form of skin cancer, increasingly affects older adults. Our study reveals that melanoma induces changes in iron and lipid levels in the bone marrow, impacting immune cell populations and increasing susceptibility to ferroptosis.

Comparison of serotonin levels in the brains of lizard species Podarcis siculus (Rafinesque-Schmaltz, 1810) and Podarcis melisellensis (Braun, 1877) [PDF]
Podarcis melisellensis (krška gušterica) i Podarcis siculus (primorska gušterica) srodne su gušterice iz porodice Lacertidae. Terenskim i laboratorijskim istraživanjima pokazano je da P. siculus kompeticijom istiskuje P.
