Extensions of Continuous and Lipschitz Functions

open access: yesCanadian Mathematical Bulletin, 2000
AbstractWe show a result slightly more general than the following. Let K be a compact Hausdorff space, F a closed subset of K, and d a lower semi-continuous metric on K. Then each continuous function ƒ on F which is Lipschitz in d admits a continuous extension on K which is Lipschitz in d. The extension has the same supremum norm and the same Lipschitz

Lipschitz property of harmonic function on graphs

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications, 2010
This paper proves the local Lipschitz property for harmonic (or positive subharmonic) functions on graphs. An example is also obtained to show that the global Lipschitz property of harmonic function on graphs does not ...

Extension of lipschitz functions

open access: yesMathematical Notes of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, 1980
A function satisfying a Lipschitz property on an arbitrary set S is extended to the whole space E preserving the Lipschitz condition. This extension is obtained by performing the infimal convolution of two functions associated with the data of the ...

An Implicit Function Theorem for One-sided Lipschitz Mappings

open access: yesSet-Valued and Variational Analysis, 2010
Beyn W-J, Rieger J. An Implicit Function Theorem for One-sided Lipschitz Mappings. Set-Valued and Variational Analysis. 2011;19(3):343-359.Implicit function theorems are derived for nonlinear set valued equations that satisfy a relaxed one-sided ...

Smoothing Lipschitz functions

Optimization Methods and Software, 2007
This paper describes a new approach to multivariate scattered data smoothing. It is assumed that the data are generated by a Lipschitz continuous function f, and include random noise to be filtered out. The proposed approach uses known, or estimated value of the Lipschitz constant of f, and forces the data to be consistent with the Lipschitz properties

Lattice Lipschitz superposition operators on Banach function spaces

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Analysis and Applications
We analyse and characterise the notion of lattice Lipschitz operator (a class of superposition operators, diagonal Lipschitz maps) when defined between Banach function spaces.
