Liquefaction

2022
Abstract To eliminate much of the hardware and many of the processing steps involved in indirect liquefaction, an alternative is to add hydrogen directly to coal, intending to make liquids in one step. Direct liquefaction is simpler in concept, but still involves high temperatures and pressures and the need to convert the primary liquid ...

Tire Liquefaction and Its Effect on Coal Liquefaction

Energy & Fuels, 1994
Liquefaction experiments were run using ground tire rubber and ground coal, individually and in combination. The runs, in a batch tubing-bomb reactor, were carried out in the presence and absence of tetralin as a solvent, and at high hydrogen pressures. The tire conversion is temperature dependent.

Liquefaction characteristics of silts

Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, 1996
The paper presents a summary of the results of cyclical triaxial load testing of samples of silt and silty sands. The paper emphasizes differences in behaviour observed between reconstituted triaxial samples of clean sand, of sand containing 10, 20, 30 and 60% silt, pure silt, and undisturbed samples of silt and silty sand.

Probability of Liquefaction Spread

Probabilistic Engineering Mechanics, 1991
In order to predict the potential of liquefaction spread for sandy soil surface ground, a methodology is presented which evaluates probability of fraction of liquefaction spread for a zone under study, conditional on earthquake hazard. The SPT values are considered as random variables which are spatially correlated.

Liquefaction

Abstract The primary challenge for cryogenic hydrogen technologies is the need for more efficient cooling and liquefaction cycles. This chapter begins with the fundamentals of refrigeration cycles, and how the efficiency is connected directly to thermophysical properties, particularly the exergy and associated exergy destruction of the ...

Liquefaction and Paleo-liquefaction in Christchurch, New Zealand

2016
Liquefaction during the 4th September 2010 Mw 7.1 Darfield earthquake and large aftershocks in 2011 (Canterbury earthquake sequence, CES) caused severe damage to land and infrastructure within Christchurch, New Zealand. Approximately one third of the total CES-induced financial losses were directly attributable to liq- uefaction and thus highlights the
