A critique of offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal policy

Ocean & Coastal Management, 2009
Abstract The Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 amended the Deepwater Port Act of 1974 to permit the construction of offshore liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminals. Terminals with environmentally destructive open-loop regasification systems were quickly approved in the Gulf of Mexico.

Optimized Utilization of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Cold Energy

2010 14th International Heat Transfer Conference, Volume 4, 2010
There is possibility of the effective utilization of the cold energy in the process of LNG vaporization. The purpose of this paper is to propose a cascade utilization scheme to recycle LNG cold energy on the basis of comprehensively considering of thermophysical and actual factors.

Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Plume Interaction With Storage Tanks

Journal of Heat Transfer, 1986

Novel design of LNG (liquefied natural gas) reliquefaction process

Energy Conversion and Management, 2011
Abstract This paper presents an investigation of novel LNG reliquefaction process where the cold exergy of subcooled LNG is utilized to recondense the vaporized light component of LNG after it is separated from the heavier component in a phase separator.

Evaluating Crystallization Risks in Liquefied-Natural-Gas (LNG) Production

SPE Projects, Facilities & Construction, 2007
Summary Liquefied natural gas (LNG) is anticipated to dominate world energy trade and fill the gap between production and energy demands in a few years, especially in the US. LNG is the liquefied version of dry natural gases at ultralow temperatures (approximately −160°C or −260°F at atmospheric pressure), which aims at minimizing ...

Modelling the weathering process of stored liquefied natural gas (LNG)

2015
Weathering occurs in stored liquefied natural gas (LNG) due to the removal of the boil-off gas (BOG) from the LNG container and results in the remaining LNG being richer in heavier components. A model has been developed to predict stored LNG weathering in containment tanks, typically used in regasification.
