Stability of Air Nucleus in Liquid Water and Cavitation Inception on Marine Engineering
The micro air nucleus widely distributed in the ocean is a necessary condition for the cavitation of hydraulic machinery in seawater. In order to study the stability of air nucleus in seawater and cavitation inception, the computational domain of water ...

Visualization of the formation process of slip flows by the air entrapment in microchannels
Processes of the air entrapment in microstructures fabricated on walls of rectangular microchannels were visualized by a high-speed camera. Effects of the geometry of the microstructures on the formation and the shape of the liquid-gas interface in the ...

Identified through the use of statistical design of experiments and metallographic investigation, this study exposes the stochastic origins of intergranular cracks in blown powder laser beam directed energy deposition additive manufacturing of pure molybdenum. It further demonstrates a successful crack mitigation approach with direct correlation to the

A diffuse interface model for solid-liquid-air dissolution problems based on a porous medium theory [PDF]
The underground rock may be dissolved by the flows of groundwater where the dissolution mainly happens at the liquid-solid interface. In many practical cases, the underground cavities are not occupied only by the water, but also the gas phase, e.g., air,

Amperometric biosensor for formic acid in air [PDF]
The possibility of developing a simple, inexpensive and specific personal passive ”real-time” air sampler based on biosensor technology was investigated. Formic acid was used as a model substance.

Fatigue Crack Initiation and Growth in Nanocrystalline Ni at Multiple Length‐Scales
Overview of miniaturized in situ SEM fatigue setup and resultant fatigue crack growth data for nanocrystalline Ni. The presented study focuses on the analysis of fatigue crack growth rate (FCGR) in focused ion beam‐notched microcantilevers prepared from nanocrystalline (NC) Ni as a model material.

In certain older oil wells in the Middle East, the produced fluid is predominantly natural gas which flows at very high rates (e.g. 50,000). Smaller quantities of crude oil (e.g. 50) and water (950) are also produced.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
