Combining Density Fractionation and Ca K‐Edge XANES Reveals Contrasting SOM–Mineral Association Patterns Shaped by Parent Material in Forest Soil O Horizons

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 188, Issue 5, Page 822-846, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Soil organic matter (SOM) accumulation in forest soils is strongly influenced by interactions with inorganic constituents derived from parent material mineralogy. However, their role in the forest floor remains underexplored.

Insights Into Water Vapor Uptake by Dry Soils Using a Global Eddy Covariance Observation Network

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 10, October 2025.
Using globally distributed flux tower data, we examined how soils adsorb water vapor from the atmosphere. We found that the direction of vapor exchange is closely linked to soil moisture and near‐surface humidity, consistent with soil–air equilibrium processes.

Natural Toolbox–Chemical Engineering Aspect and High‐Value Applications of Janus Cellulose Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 28, July 24, 2025.
The Tai Ji symbol from China represents the co‐existence of two opposite substances, similar to quantum entanglement. The term Janus comes from ancient Roman religion and mythology. Janus, the god of beginnings, transitions, etc., has two faces, symbolizing duality. Janus cellulose nanomaterials show structural duality.
