Meniscus effects on the frequency and damping of capillary-gravity waves in a brimful circular cylinder [PDF]
We study the effects of a meniscus on the oscillations of a viscous liquid filling a right circular cylindrical container by using the natural viscous complex eigenfunctions of the problem.

Vortex Dynamics and Hall Conductivity of Hard Core Bosons [PDF]
Magneto-transport of hard core bosons (HCB) is studied using an XXZ quantum spin model representation, appropriately gauged on the torus to allow for an external magnetic field. We find strong lattice effects near half filling.

What Do Large Language Models Know About Materials?
If large language models (LLMs) are to be used inside the material discovery and engineering process, they must be benchmarked for the accurateness of intrinsic material knowledge. The current work introduces 1) a reasoning process through the processing–structure–property–performance chain and 2) a tool for benchmarking knowledge of LLMs concerning ...

Recent experiments seem to confirm predictions that interactions lead to charge density wave ground states in higher Landau levels. These new ``correlated'' ground states of the quantum Hall system manifest themselves for example in a strongly ...

Rheocasting versus Die Casting: An Insight into the Low‐Cycle Fatigue Behavior of AlSi7Mg0.6
The study compares rheocast lightweight components with high‐pressure die cast materials regarding microstructure and fatigue behavior. Rheocast process offers higher efficiency due to lower casting temperatures. Despite some microstructural differences, both processes show similar strengths (yield strength 125 MPa, tensile strength 240 MPa).

Transfer of Energy and Momentum Between Magnetoactive Surface Microstructure and a Solid Object
We demonstrate that magnetoactive multilamellar arrays subjected to a rotating magnetic field can function as platforms for controlled transport of physical objects. Through systematic experimental investigation, we elucidate the underlying physical mechanisms determining the upper limit of the achievable transportation speed in such magnetic “conveyor‐

Thermodynamic modeling of the no-vent fill methodology for transferring cryogens in low gravity [PDF]
The filling of tanks with cryogens in the low-gravity environment of space poses many technical challenges. Chief among these is the inability to vent only vapor from the tank as the filling proceeds.

A First Look at the Performance of Nano-Grooved Heat Pipes
Passive thermal spreaders utilizing liquid/vapor phase-change mechanism such as heat pipes, have been widely used in the macro-scale thermal management of electronic devices for many years. Micro-fabrication techniques enabled the fabrication micro-scale
