Metal-loaded organic scintillators for neutrino physics

open access: yes, 2016
Organic liquid scintillators are used in many neutrino physics experiments of the past and present. In particular for low energy neutrinos when realtime and energy information are required, liquid scintillators have several advantages compared to other ...

Melt conditioned direct chill casting (MC-DC) of wrought Al-alloys [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Melt Conditioned Direct Chill (MC-DC) casting is a new development for producing high-quality billets and slabs. In the MC-DC process, liquid metal is continuously fed into a MCAST (melt conditioning by advanced shear technology) machine, where the ...

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Regulation of high-temperature microstructure evolution and recrystallization by pre-strain accumulation in Al–Zn–Mg–Cu alloys

open access: yesJournal of Materials Research and Technology
This study systematically investigates the hot deformation behavior of Al–Zn–Mg–Cu alloy through pre-deformation compression tests at different temperatures (room temperature, RT, and cryogenic temperature, CT) with varying pre-strain levels, combined ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Innovative crosslinking and foaming Strategies for Advancing biodegradable composite foams: Enhancing Foamability, Flexibility, and thermal insulation

open access: yesMaterials & Design
Ensuring thermal insulation stability under an extreme condition and optimizing energy utilization efficiency emerge as a pivotal concern. Bio-based poly(butylene adipate-co-terephthalate) (PBAT) foams, characterized by irreplaceable flexibility ...

Suspension printing of liquid metal in yield-stress fluid for resilient 3D constructs with electromagnetic functions

open access: yesnpj Flexible Electronics, 2022
Liquid metal is an ideal conductive material for soft electronics because of its high conductivity and fluidity at room temperature. However, the large surface tension and high mass density of liquid metal make forming three-dimensional (3D) dangling ...

Liquid-metal-piston MHD generator [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Magnetohydrodynamic generator uses a slug or piston of liquid potassium as the working fluid. An expanding vapor of the metal is allowed to reciprocate the liquid-metal-piston through a magnetic field and the expansion energy is converted directly into ...

Spin-gapped incoherent metal with preformed pairing in the doped antiferromagnetic Mott insulator [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We investigate how the antiferromagnetic Mott insulator evolves into the d-wave BCS superconductor through hole doping. Allowing spin fluctuations in the strong coupling approach, we find a spin-gapped incoherent metal with preformed pairing as an ...
