This study examines how several molten high‐silicon electrical steels interact with both conventional and recycled MgO–C refractories. For this, various immersion experiments are conducted. In addition to infiltration, a number of mechanisms are identified and explained that control the corrosion of the refractory material.

Mass Transfer in Electroslag Processes with Consumable Electrode and Liquid Metal
Experimental and numerical comparisons of mass transfer processes during the electroslag remelting with consumable electrode (ESR) and electroslag refining with liquid metal (ESR LM) showed their identical refining capacity, despite the smaller both the ...

Herein, environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) is discussed as a powerful extension of conventional SEM for life sciences. By combining high‐resolution imaging with variable pressure and humidity, ESEM allows the analysis of untreated biological materials, supports in situ monitoring of hydration‐driven changes, and advances the functional ...

High-energy-rate magnetohydraulic metal forming system [PDF]
In the magnetohydraulic metal forming system, a sonic shock wave is generated in a liquid medium by a coil energized by an electrical discharge. These waves transfer energy from a metal diaphragm, actuated by a pulsed magnetic field, to a metal workpiece.

Spin Liquid States at the vicinity of metal-insulator transition
We study in this paper quantum spin liquid states (QSLs) at the vicinity of metal-insulator transition. Assuming that the low energy excitations in the QSLs are labeled by "spinon" occupation numbers with the same Fermi surface structure as in the ...
