Review of Scientific Instruments, 1955
A low-pressure laboratory liquefier having a capacity of 45 to 50 liters per hour is described. A combination of old and new features makes possible continuous operation without an attendant. Impurities such as water, carbon dioxide, and oil are eliminated automatically by reversing exchangers.

Benign skin lesions such as solar and seborrhoeic keratoses, viral warts, and skin tags can be treated successfully by cutaneous cryotherapy. Complications are infrequent if the correct technique is used and local anaesthetic usually is unnecessary. Liquid nitrogen (boiling point -196 degrees C) is the usual freezing agent but carbon dioxide snow (-79 ...

LIQUID NITROGEN FOR DERMATOSES
Journal of the American Medical Association, 1954To the Editor: —Having had experience with liquid nitrogen in the treatment of various dermatoses, I have often been questioned regarding the practical factors in its use. Liquid nitrogen is noninflammable and has a boiling point of -195 C (-319 F). Its therapeutic value is due to its ability to freeze the skin and cause blistering of varying degrees,

SUBSTITUTE FOR LIQUID NITROGEN
Archives of Dermatology, 1953Liquid nitrogen cryotherapy is an almost indispensable modality for those who have learned its virtues. However, it may not be available at any time for some and not always available for others. An effective substitute is carbon dioxide slush. Though slower in producing freezing than liquid nitrogen, it is more rapid, more adaptable to irregular ...
