Adhesive liquid‐crystalline polymers

Macromolecular Symposia, 1998
AbstractThe synthesis and characterization of liquid‐crystalline polymers with possible good adhesive properties is reported. These polymers are prepared by alternating copolymerization of maleic anhydride and mesogenic alkenes. The spacer length m is varied (m = 2, 3, 4, 6, 8 and 9) and methoxybiphenyl is used as the mesogenic group.

Photorefractive polymer-dispersed liquid crystals

Optics Letters, 1997
We report observation of the photorefractive effect in functionalized polymer-dispersed liquid crystals. The photoconductive properties are provided by the polymer matrix, and the field-dependent refractive-index changes are generated by the dispersed nematic liquid-crystal droplets.

Liquid Crystal Polymer Membranes

2015
Liquid crystals (LCs) combine properties of both liquids and crystals and can be organized in a variety of nanostructured polymer films with a monolithic structure. Therefore, polymer-based LCs are ultimately suited as membrane with an accurately controlled nanoporosity.

Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystals

2019
Low molar mass liquid crystals (LCs) are typically not soluble in polymer systems to any great degree. When the two different materials are mixed, this leads to two-phase systems whose morphology depends on a variety of factors including, primarily, the concentration.
