Electromagnetic propulsion and separation by chirality of nanoparticles in liquids

open access: yesPhysical Review E, 2012
We introduce a new mechanism for the propulsion and separation by chirality of small ferromagnetic particles suspended in a liquid. Under the action of a uniform d.c. magnetic field H and an a.c. electric field E isomers with opposite chirality move in opposite directions.

Marangoni effect inspired robotic self-propulsion over a water surface using a flow-imbibition-powered microfluidic pump

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2021
Certain aquatic insects rapidly traverse water by secreting surfactants that exploit the Marangoni effect, inspiring the development of many self-propulsion systems.

Application of Ionic Liquids to Space Propulsion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
1.1 Propellants and ignition systems A propellant is an energetic compound or a mixture in gas, liquid or solid state, which undergoes a rapid and predictable combustion resulting in a large volume of hot gas used to thrust a projectile (rocket, missile, launcher).

Clinical Practice Guideline for Evaluation and Management of Peripheral Nervous System Manifestations in Sjögren's Disease

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Sjögren's disease is an autoimmune disorder that can impact multiple organ systems, including the peripheral nervous system (PNS). PNS manifestations, which can exist concurrently, include mononeuropathies, polyneuropathies, and autonomic nervous system neuropathies.

Numerical study of wave disturbance in liquid cooling film

open access: yesPropulsion and Power Research, 2013
Transient numerical simulations are carried out to investigate the liquid-gas interface characteristics associated with liquid film cooling flows. A two-dimensional axisymmetric multi-phase numerical model using finite volume formulation is developed ...

Additive Gaussian Process Regression for Predictive Design of High‐Performance, Printable Silicones

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A chemistry‐aware design framework for tuning printable polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) for vat photopolymerization (VPP) is developed using additive Gaussian process (GP) modeling. Polymer network mechanics informs variable groupings, feasible formulation constraints, and interaction variables.
