Vasorelaxant and Hypotensive Effects of Cheonwangbosimdan in SD and SHR Rats

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Historically, traditional herbal medicines (THMs) have been the conventional treatment strategy in the Korean medical system for treating many diseases. However, THMs have rarely been used to treat hypertension, and moreover few studies have investigated the interaction of blood pressure with the coadministration of synthetic antihypertensives.

Essential Oils in Stored Product Insect Pest Control

open access: yesJournal of Food Quality, Volume 2018, Issue 1, 2018., 2018
Among botanical extracts used as insecticides, essential oils (EOs) are promising alternatives to chemical insecticides. EOs are synthesized by plants, and they play a key role in plant signaling processes including also attractiveness toward pollinators and beneficial insects.

Screening SIRT1 Activators from Medicinal Plants as Bioactive Compounds against Oxidative Damage in Mitochondrial Function

open access: yesOxidative Medicine and Cellular Longevity, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
Sirtuin type 1 (SIRT1) belongs to the family of NAD+ dependent histone deacetylases and plays a critical role in cellular metabolism and response to oxidative stress. Traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs), as an important part of natural products, have been reported to exert protective effect against oxidative stress in mitochondria.

Saikosaponin A Inhibits Migration/Invasion and Triggers Cell‐Cycle Arrest and Autophagy‐Induced Cell Death in HCT116 Cells and In Vivo

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 3, May 2026.
Saikosaponin A from Radix Bupleuri inhibited colorectal cancer HCT116 cells with low toxicity. SSA induced S/G2‐M cell cycle arrest and triggered autophagy via mTOR inhibition. SSA suppressed metastasis by blocking PI3K/AKT signaling pathway. SSA significantly reduced tumor growth without apparent toxicity.

Bioactive polysaccharides and their potential health benefits in reducing the risks of metabolic syndrome: A review

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, Volume 2, Issue 3, Page 288-314, September 2025.
Abstract Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a complex noncommunicable condition characterized by central obesity, insulin resistance, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and hyperglycemia. Epidemiological evidence shows that MetS affects a third of the global population; however, due to its complex pathogenesis and limited drug therapy options, the increasing ...

Plant‐Origin Compounds and Materials for Advancing Bone Tissue Engineering and 3D Bioprinting: Traditional Medicine Aspects and Current Perspectives

open access: yesJournal of Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Bone defects are becoming a true challenge in global health care due to the aging population and higher prevalence of musculoskeletal disorders. The interest in using plant‐origin compounds and plant‐derived biomaterials in bone tissue engineering (BTE) has been increased due to their availability (abundance), safety, biocompatibility, biodegradability,

Developing Asparagaceae1726: An Asparagaceae‐specific probe set targeting 1726 loci for Hyb‐Seq and phylogenomics in the family

open access: yesApplications in Plant Sciences, Volume 12, Issue 5, September-October 2024.
Abstract Premise Target sequence capture (Hyb‐Seq) is a cost‐effective sequencing strategy that employs RNA probes to enrich for specific genomic sequences. By targeting conserved low‐copy orthologs, Hyb‐Seq enables efficient phylogenomic investigations.

DT-13 ameliorates LPS-induced acute lung injury via targeting NMMHC IIA to modulate the FOXO1/KLF2/SPHK1 pathway

open access: yesActa Materia Medica
The pathogenesis of acute lung injury (ALI) and the severe form of ALI, acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), is incompletely understood. We aimed to determine the mechanism of action for non-muscle myosin heavy-chain IIA (NMMHC IIA) and the NMMHC ...

Greenhouse Gas Budget Assessment of Production of Kentucky Bluegrass (Poa pratensis) Sod and Three Herbaceous Landscape Plants

open access: yesHorticulturae
To mitigate climate change, achieving net-zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions across all sectors is essential. In the floricultural and landscaping industries, a key concern is whether the production and use of landscape plants contribute to CO2 ...
