THE DENSITY FUNCTIONAL THEORY STUDY OF Li-ION DIFFUSION IN Na-DOPED Li4Ti5O12 AS LITHIUM-ION BATTERY ANODE

open access: yesSpektra: Jurnal Fisika dan Aplikasinya, 2022
Spinel phase lithium titanate (Li4Ti5O12 or LTO) has been studied as an alternative anode material with a “zero-strain” characteristic structure to improve safety, cycling stability, and rate performance. LTO offers stable Li-ion diffusion at a higher charge-discharge rate without noticeable structural change.

Hierarchical Primary‐Secondary Coordination Synchronizes Ion Flux and Sulfur Redox in Solid Polymer Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Hierarchical coordination engineering redistributes Li+ from anion‐dominated pairing toward polymer‐mediated binding. Strong primary sites promote salt dissociation, while distributed secondary sites sustain dynamic hopping pathways. This coordination landscape couples ion flux with polysulfide conversion, suppresses transport‐conversion decoupling ...

Mitigating Concentration Polarization in Dry‐Processed Ultra‐Thick Cathodes Using a Low‐Viscosity Electrolyte With Soft Li+ Solvation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A low‐viscosity, soft‐solvating methyl ethanoate (ME)‐based electrolyte facilitates electrolyte infiltration into dense dry‐processed ultra‐thick NCM622 cathodes while reducing Li+ desolvation barriers at Li‐metal anodes. Balanced cathode‐scale ion transport and anode‐side interfacial kinetics mitigate concentration polarization and interfacial ...

Mechanisms of Degradation in Li‐Ion Batteries Under Low Temperature Exposures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Low‐temperature exposures, or freeze‐thaw cycles, are observed to significantly accelerate the degradation of Li‐ion batteries. A combination of electrolyte phase separation and mechanochemical stress leads to reversible and irreversible performance losses.
