Fractographic analysis of monolithic lithium disilicate crowns
Dental Materials, 2014veneering ceramic with the ceramic core were observed, as well as lithium disilicate ceramic. On the contrary, no fractures of the zirconia occurred and weight losses were under the detection threshold (0.001 g). Conclusion: Monolithic zirconia crowns are more fatigue resistant than layered ones, whereas no significant differences were found ...

Crystallization of lithium metasilicate from lithium disilicate glass
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1995The crystallization behavior of lithium disilicate glass powder heated in molten LiNO3 salt was investigated using X-ray diffraction techniques. Heat treatment at 500°C with LiNO3 molten salt caused a lithium metasilicate, Li2SiO3, crystal phase to appear after 5–96 h.

Lithium Disilicate Glass Ceramics
2011In this chapter, the best way to crystallize and process lithium disilicate glass ceramics for dental applications is discussed. In addition, the best way to modify the chemical composition and optimize the microstructure to achieve lithium metasilicate or lithium disilicate is assessed.

Do you know your ceramics? Part 3: lithium disilicate
British Dental Journal, 2022Lithium disilicate has become very popular and is very commonly used, especially for highly aesthetic cases. It has also proven to be a very durable material and can be used in a variety of clinical situations. It is important as a clinician, technician or ceramist to be able to confidently use this material by appreciating the detail in its ...

Strength and flexibility of lithium disilicate bonded to polyetherketoneketone
The Journal of Prosthetic Dentistry, 2023Polyetherketoneketone (PEKK) is a high-performance polymer gaining popularity in dentistry for the fabrication of crowns, fixed partial dentures, removable partial denture frameworks, and frameworks for implant-supported fixed complete dentures. Despite a lack of performance data, lithium disilicate crowns have been bonded to retentive elements in PEKK

Diamond grinding used in dental adjustment of high-strength zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate glass ceramic (ZLS) and lithium disilicate glass ceramic (LDGC) is challenging in restorative dentistry. This study aimed to compare the machinability of ZLS and LDGC in diamond grinding in terms of machining forces and energy, debris, surface and edge ...

Metastable phases in lithium disilicate glasses
Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1997Abstract This article deals with crystal nucleation in glass, with special emphasis on new findings about metastable phase formation in lithium disilicate glass (LS2) and its effects on crystallization of the stable LS2 crystal phase. The early crystallization stages of slightly sub-stoichiometric LS2 glasses were probed with SAXS and selected area ...

Two-step nucleation in lithium disilicate glass
Journal of Crystal Growth, 1995Abstract The effect of preliminary heat treatment on the kinetics of nucleation is modeled by numerical solution of the kinetic equations within the framework of standard nucleation theory. It is shown that such an approach sufficiently exactly explains the measured data of the number of nuclei for two-step annealing treatments in a Li 2 O · 2SiO 2 ...

Containerless processing of a lithium disilicate glass
Journal of Materials Science, 2007Glasses of Li2O.2SiO2 (LS2), and LS2 doped with 0.001wt% platinum (LS2 + 0.001 wt% Pt) compositions were melted, cooled and reheated at controlled rates while levitated (containerless) inside an Electrostatic Levitator (ESL) furnace at the NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, Huntsville, AL. The experiments were conducted in vacuum (approximately 10(exp -

The structure of metastable lithium disilicate, Li2Si2O5
