Characterization of Lithia‐Based Machinable Glass‐Ceramic Materials

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Lithia‐based glass ceramics lead the indirect single‐unit restoration market, but the underlying evidence is dominated by a single material. New materials have been introduced. The purpose was to investigate the elemental composition, elemental oxide composition, as‐fabricated surface morphology, as‐fabricated flexural strength ...

Substance‐Gain Extrusion Technique (SGET) in Combination With BOPT—Technique Description

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The restoration of teeth with deep subgingival fractures poses a significant challenge, often requiring extensive interventions such as orthodontic extrusion or implant therapy. This manuscript aims to introduce and describe the substance‐gain extrusion technique (SGET) as a minimally invasive alternative that enables the ...

Custom fabrication of reinforced lithium disilicate ceramic ingot

open access: yesIndian Journal of Dentistry, 2016
A method of formulating a reinforcement lithium disilicate ceramic ingot was proposed. The ceramic ingot was broken manually with a mallet to finer particles. The sectioned ingot is ball milled along with 10% of nano zirconia by weight to obtain the desired powder.

Is Additive Manufacturing of Dental Zirconia Comparable to Subtractive Methods When Considering Printing Orientation and Layer Thickness? A Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesJournal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective The aim of this systematic review and meta‐analysis was to determine whether the production of monolithic dental zirconia using additive manufacturing (AM), with consideration of different printing directions and layer thicknesses, enhances its mechanical and physical properties relative to subtractive manufacturing (SM ...

Pressure‐driven homogenization of lithium disilicate glasses

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society
Abstract Lithium disilicate glasses and glass–ceramics are good potential candidates for biomedical applications, solid‐state batteries, and serve as models of nucleation and crystal growth. Moreover, these glasses exhibit a phase separation that influences their nucleation and crystallization behavior. The atomistic mechanisms of the
