Lithium-Rich Transition Metal Oxides as Positive Electrode Materials in Lithium-Ion Batteries

open access: yes, 2010
Lithium-rich transition metal oxides are candidates for the next-generation lithium-ion battery positive electrode materials. They have a much higher first charge and low-rate cycling capacity compared to non-lithium rich transition metal oxides.

Bipolar Palladium Membrane Enabling Crossover‐Free Selective Proton Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces a crossover‐free bipolar palladium membrane that transports protons selectively via reversible Pd/PdHx absorption–desorption and lattice hydrogen diffusion, overcoming the conductivity–selectivity trade‐off of polymer membranes. It enables water‐fed Li‐mediated ammonia synthesis, achieving 51% Faradaic efficiency and stable 12 h ...

Mesoporous Lithium Titanate-Carbon Composite (Li4Ti5O12-Carbon) with Controlled Microstructure As Anode in Lithium Ion Batteries for Wide Temperature Range

open access: yes, 2014
The high discharge rate performance of lithium titanate (Li4Ti5O12) is limited by the low electronic conductivity of the material (< 10-11 Sm-1), addition of carbon is one of the effective way in enhancing the rate performance.

Interfacial Degradation Electrochemistry of Micro‐Silicon Anodes in Solid‐State and Liquid Electrolytes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This schematic compares m‐Si degradation in liquid electrolyte and solid electrolyte systems. In liquid electrolyte, repeated cycling induces severe particle pulverization and thick, unstable SEI growth. In contrast, the solid electrolyte configuration suppresses interfacial reactions, enabling a thin, stable SEI and improved structural integrity ...

Automating Chemical Reasoning in High‐Throughput Phase Identification With a Probabilistic, LLM‐Guided Framework

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Autonomous laboratories can now synthesize materials faster than experts can interpret the resulting diffraction data. A probabilistic framework combines refinement‐fit metrics with large language model‐derived chemical reasoning to rank competing phase interpretations and flag those unsuitable for autonomous use.

Enhancing All‐Solid‐State Batteries Performance Through Thickness Control and Surface Passivation of Thermally Evaporated Lithium Metal Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that thermally evaporated lithium anodes combined with LiF passivation provide a high‐performance thin anode design for next‐generation ASSBs. This approach increases the critical current density from 1.6 to 2.6 mA cm−2, enabling full cells to achieve over 500 and 300 cycles at 1.5 and 3 mA cm−2, respectively, outperforming even
