Lithium : old & new uses in medicine [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
Lithium has been used in psychiatry since 1949, and since the mid 1960s its use has escalated until it is estimated that about 500,000 patients receive it world-wide. During the last decade a new phase of interest in lithium has begun.

Non-Ising and chiral ferroelectric domain walls revealed by nonlinear optical microscopy

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Understanding the structure of domain walls is an important step in developing nanoscale ferroelectric devices. Here, the authors use second harmonic imaging to verify predictions of Bloch and Néel, rather than simple Ising, domain wall structures in ...

Growth of Lithium Lanthanum Titanate Nanosheets and Their Application in Lithium-Ion Batteries

open access: yesACS Applied Materials & Interfaces, 2016
In this work, lithium-doped lanthanum titanate (LLTO) nanosheets have been prepared by a facile hydrothermal approach. It is found that with the incorporation of lithium ions, the morphology of the product transfers from rectangular nanosheets to irregular nanosheets along with a transition from La2Ti2O7 to Li0.5La0.5TiO3.

Quenching‐Induced Defects Liberate the Latent Reversible Capacity of Lithium Titanate Anode

open access: yes, 2022
Interest in defect engineering for lithium-ion battery (LIB) materials is sparked by its ability to tailor electrical conductivity and introduce extra active sites for electrochemical reactions. However, harvesting excessive intrinsic defects in the bulk
