Two‐dimensional numerical simulations of mantle convection with temperature and pressure dependent viscosity are used to study plume–lithosphere interaction beneath a fast moving plate. Plumes behavior and, hence, their erosional and melting potential, depend on the Rayleigh number and plume buoyancy flux.
