Bubble cloud dynamics in an ultrasound field [PDF]

open access: yesJ. Fluid Mech. 862 (2019) 1105-1134, 2018
The dynamics of bubble clouds induced by high-intensity focused ultrasound are investigated in a regime where the cloud size is similar to the ultrasound wavelength. High-speed images show that the cloud is asymmetrical; the bubbles nearest the source grow to a larger radius than the distal ones.

The Gilmore-NASG model to predict single-bubble cavitation in compressible liquids [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
The Gilmore model is combined with the Noble-Abel-stiffened-gas (NASG) equation of state to yield a simple model to predict the expansion and collapse of spherical bubbles based on real gas thermodynamics. The NASG equation of state resolves the temperature inaccuracy associated with the commonly employed Tait equation of state for liquids and, thus ...

INFLAMMATORY DISEASES OF THE COLON. CURRENT STATE OF THE PROBLEM

open access: yesМедицинский совет, 2013
The etiology of ulcerative colitis (UC) and Crohn's disease (CD) is unknown, and their pathogenesis is being studied. The process, treatment methods and outcomes of the diseases are very similar, while their morphological differences are mainly ...

COMPARISON OF SAFETY AND EFFICACY OF PNEUMATIC VERSUS LASER LITHOTRIPSY IN URETERIC STONES

open access: yesJournal of University Medical & Dental College, 2021
BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVE: Treatments for ureteral calculi evolve, over the past decades from open ureterolithotomy to minimally invasive procedures. Objective of this study is to compare the efficacy of pneumatic versus laser lithotripsy in ureteric stones.

Cost-effectiveness analysis of the management of distal ureteral stones in children [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Objective To determine the most cost-effective approach to the management of distal ureteral stones in children given the potential for recurrent renal colic during a trial of passage versus potential stent discomfort and complications of ureteroscopy.

Bacteriophages: what do we know about them? Current options for phage therapy in pediatrician's practice

open access: yesМедицинский совет, 2013
Bacteria resistant to most or all of the known antibiotics have been causing more serious problems recently, thus increasing the risk of return of the medical community to the times when antibiotics not yet emerged, and incurable infections and epidemics

An unusual complication of lithotripsy [PDF]

open access: yesAnaesthesia, 1983
SummaryThe case described illustrates a most unusual course of events due to a perforation in the wall of the bladder during transurethral lithotripsy. Irrigation fluid forced its way retroperitoneally to the mediastinum. The differential diagnostic problems encountered are discussed.

Boundary stabilization of the linear MGT equation with partially absorbing boundary data and degenerate viscoelasticity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
The Jordan--Moore--Gibson--Thompson (JMGT) equation is a well-established and recently widely studied model for nonlinear acoustics (NLA). It is a third-order (in time) semilinear Partial Differential Equation (PDE) model with the distinctive feature of predicting the propagation of ultrasound waves at \textit{finite} speed due to heat phenomenon know ...
