A hyperglycemic peptide hormone from the Caribbean shrimp Penaeus (litopenaeus) schmitti☆

Peptides, 2000
From a crude extract of the sinus glands of the shrimp Penaeus (litopenaeus) schmitti a peptide with hyperglycemic activity in a homologous bioassay was isolated and characterized by a combination of automatic Edman degradation, enzymatic digestions, TLC of dansyl-amino acids, and mass spectrometry. Its M(r) is 8359.4 Da by MS, which coincides with the

Characterization and partial purification of a lectin from the hemolymph of the white shrimp Litopenaeus schmitti

Developmental & Comparative Immunology, 2002
The agglutinating activity of the hemolymph of Litopenaeus schmitti is insensitive to calcium and specific for acetylated sugars, particularly sialic acid (Neu5Ac) and O-sialoglycoconjugates (bovine submaxillary mucin) and has varying specificity for different LPS, which may suggest a putative role in microorganism recognition.

Substitution of Chaetoceros muelleri by Spirulina platensis meal in diets for Litopenaeus schmitti larvae

Aquaculture, 2006
Abstract The nutritional response of Litopenaeus schmitti larvae to substitution of Chaetoceros muelleri by Spirulina platensis meal (SPM) was evaluated. The substitution levels (S) were 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%, dry weight basis. Final larval length (FL) ranged from 1.98 to 3.16 mm for the different substitution levels.

Spatial and temporal genetic analysis of the Cuban white shrimp Penaeus (Litopenaeus) schmitti

Aquaculture, 2007
Abstract The white shrimp Penaeus (Litopenaeus) schmitti [Burkenroad, M.D., 1936. A new species of Penaeus from the American.Atlantic. Anais Acad. Brasil. Cienc. Rio de Janeiro 8, 315–318.] has been part of commercial fisheries in Cuba since 1953.

Bioaccumulation of heavy metals by shrimp (Litopenaeus schmitti): A dose–response approach for coastal resources management

Marine Pollution Bulletin, 2017
We reveal a dose-response relationship for bioaccumulation of Zn, Cu and Cr in shrimp Litopenaeus schmitti from Sepetiba Bay, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Our model estimates the current risk (AD50 was 70% of the legal limit) and the daily metal uptake rate for each metal.

Brewery residues as a source of organic carbon in Litopenaeus schmitti white shrimp farms with BFT systems

Aquaculture International, 2014
The choice of the source of organic carbon utilized in the fertilization of the farming system in bioflocs is important as it influences the nutritional composition of the bioflocs and should consider factors such as costs, local availability, and biodegradability.

Acute toxicity of ammonia in white shrimp (Litopenaeus schmitti) (Burkenroad, 1936, Crustacea) at different salinity levels

Aquaculture, 2010
article i nfo Litopenaeus schmitti juveniles (total length 15±0.7 mm) were exposed to different concentrations of ammonia-N (un-ionized plus ionized ammonia as nitrogen), using the static renewal method at different salinity levels (5‰ ,2 0‰ and 35‰) at pH 8.0 and 20 °C. The 24, 48, 72, 96 h LC50 values of ammonia-N in L. schmitti juveniles were 40.72,

COMPOSIÇÃO CENTESIMAL DO CAMARÃO BRANCO LITOPENAEUS SCHMITTI (BURKENROAD, 1936)

Growth enhancement of shrimp (Litopenaeus schmitti) after transfer of tilapia growth hormone gene

Biotechnology Letters, 2008
Electroporation of Litopenaeus schmitti embryos was used to transfer the pE300tiGH15 plasmid that contains the tilapia growth hormone gene (tiGH) complexed with a nuclear localization signal peptide into the zygotes. The gene construct was detected in 35 (36%) of the 98 larvae screened by PCR and Southern blot analyses.
