Live Trap for Pocket Gophers

The Southwestern Naturalist, 2009
Abstract We presented a new trap for pocket gophers and compared its effectiveness with the Baker and Williams live trap. Our box trap readily captured juveniles ≥44 g and adults ≤294 g. We had ≤50% capture success. In general, capture success was similar to the Baker and Williams live trap.

Live Trapping Texas Antelopes

The Journal of Wildlife Management, 1942
The credit for the first successful livetrapping and transplanting of pronghorned antelopes (Antilocapra americana) belongs to Elliot S. Barker, State Game Warden, and Paul Russell, District Deputy Game Warden, New Mexico Department of Game and Fish.

Laser trapping of short-lived radioactive isotopes

Physical Review Letters, 1994
We describe an experiment which demonstrates the feasibility of trapping significant quantities of short-lived radioactive atoms with laser light. A thermal beam of 22.5 sec half-life $^{21}\mathrm{Na}$ atoms was produced on-line at the LBL 88'' Cyclotron.

Sequential Live-Trapping and Snap-Trapping Studies of Microtus Populations

Journal of Mammalogy, 1970
Four populations of Microtus ochrogaster and M . pennsylvanicus were censused by live- and snap-trapping methods in southern Indiana grasslands from March to December 1967. On each area a quadrat was live-trapped for 2 weeks and then immediately snap-trapped for 3 days. Population size was estimated using the Petersen Method. Approximately 25 to 35 per

A live trap and trapping technique for subterranean zokors (Rodentia)

Mammalia, 2015
AbstractEcological and behavioural studies of subterranean animals are challenging because their subterranean lifestyle make direct observations difficult. Effective live trapping without causing injuries to an animal and handling of captured individuals are crucial for ecological and behavioural studies.

Reducing Mortality of Shrews in Rodent Live Trapping — a Method Increasing Live-Trap Selectivity with Shrew Exits

Annales Zoologici Fennici, 2013
Shrews have very high metabolic rates and are often unintentionally starved in rodent live-traps during capture-mark-recapture (CMR) studies. Here, we suggest a shrew exit as a modification to rodent traps. To test whether this modification is (1) saving shrews and (2) not jeopardizing results of rodent captures, we compared captures in Ugglan traps ...

A better beaver trap—new safety device for live traps

Wildlife Society Bulletin, 2005
Live traps for beavers (Castor canadensis and C. fiber) will be more important as leg-hold and killer traps become outlawed. But live traps are potentially dangerous to personnel because the safety mechanism permits the trap to shut prematurely. To make these traps safer, we redesigned the safety mechanism so that the handler does not have to reach ...

Optical funnel for living cells trap

Optics Communications, 2019
Abstract We proposed and experimentally demonstrated an optical funnel for living cells trap based on an annular-core optical fiber. The proposed optical funnel employed the annular dark field to trap the living cell to avoid the laser damages. To perform the dark field trap, we placed the living cells in the glycerol solution.
