Live-trapping success of the mountain hare (<em>Lepus timidus</em>) in the southern Italian Alps
<strong>Abstract</strong> Within a study on the mountain hare (<em>Lepus timidus</em>) in Alpine habitat, in March-May 2005 ten live-traps were set in an area included in the Stelvio National Park, while captures with nets ...

Hunting and Trapping Technique Among Idu Mishmi Community of Arunachal Pradesh
The tribal people obtain their numerous requirements from the area they inhabit with the help simplest tools and without any technical aid. They face multiple challenges with the modern way of life but yet these people are the most caring and loving ...

Genetic sampling for estimating density of common species. [PDF]
Understanding population dynamics requires reliable estimates of population density, yet this basic information is often surprisingly difficult to obtain.

We show that the 5-dimensional model introduced by Randall and Sundrum is (half of) a wormhole, and that this is a general result in models of the RS type. We also discuss the gravitational trapping of a scalar particle in 5-d spacetimes.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Survivin and Aurora Kinase A control cell fate decisions during mitosis
Aurora A interacts with survivin during mitosis and regulates its centromeric role. Loss of Aurora A activity mislocalises survivin, the CPC and BubR1, leading to disruption of the spindle checkpoint and triggering premature mitotic exit, which we refer to as ‘mitotic slippage’.

Live capture-recapture is often considered the gold standard for estimating wildlife population size or density, but the approach can be limited by permitting requirements, required labor, welfare concerns, and biased estimates resulting from ...

Liquid biopsy epigenetics: establishing a molecular profile based on cell‐free DNA
Cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) fragments in plasma from cancer patients carry epigenetic signatures reflecting their cells of origin. These epigenetic features include DNA methylation, nucleosome modifications, and variations in fragmentation. This review describes the biological properties of each feature and explores optimal strategies for harnessing cfDNA ...
