PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Capture and sorting of multiple cells by polarization-controlled three-beam interference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
For the capture and sorting of multiple cells, a sensitive and highly efficient polarization-controlled three-beam interference set-up has been developed. With the theory of superposition of three beams, simulations on the influence of polarization angle

Plecstatin inhibits hepatocellular carcinoma tumorigenesis and invasion through cytolinker plectin

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The ruthenium‐based metallodrug plecstatin exerts its anticancer effect in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) primarily through selective targeting of plectin. By disrupting plectin‐mediated cytoskeletal organization, plecstatin inhibits anchorage‐dependent growth, cell polarization, and tumor cell dissemination.

Comparison of survey techniques on detection of northern flying squirrels

open access: yesWildlife Society Bulletin, 2016
The ability to detect a species is central to the success of monitoring for conservation and management purposes, especially if the species is rare or endangered.

Non-volant mammals of the Ibura National Forest, northeastern Brazil

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2020
Less than 10% of the original Atlantic Forest cover now remains standing in the Brazilian state of Sergipe, although few scientific studies have focused on its mammalian diversity.

Salt marsh harvest mouse abundance and site use in a managed marsh [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The salt marsh harvest mouse (Reithrodontomys raviventris) is a federal and California listed endangered mammal endemic to the San Francisco Bay. The objectives of this research were to determine habitat use of endangered salt marsh harvest mice in a ...

EFFECT OF RACCOON (PROCYON LOTOR) REDUCTION ON BLANDING’S TURTLE (EMYDOIDEA BLANDINGII) NEST SUCCESS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The Lake County Forest Preserve District has monitored a state-endangered Blanding’s Turtle (Emydoidea blandingii) population at two adjoining nature preserves along the Illinois–Wisconsin border since 2004.

Live trap preference among grassland mammals [PDF]

open access: yesActa Theriologica, 1977
In two independent studies, small mammals of glassland communities in eastern Kansas, when given a choice, preferred Fitch to Sherman live traps. Except for the harvest mice in the demographic study, the type of preferred trap and magnitude of selection was remarkably comparable, with microtines showing slight, and cricetines strong, preferences ...
