PARP inhibitors elicit distinct transcriptional programs in homologous recombination competent castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PARP inhibitors are used to treat a small subset of prostate cancer patients. These studies reveal that PARP1 activity and expression are different between European American and African American prostate cancer tissue samples. Additionally, different PARP inhibitors cause unique and overlapping transcriptional changes, notably, p53 pathway upregulation.

Characterizing the salivary RNA landscape to identify potential diagnostic, prognostic, and follow‐up biomarkers for breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study explores salivary RNA for breast cancer (BC) diagnosis, prognosis, and follow‐up. High‐throughput RNA sequencing identified distinct salivary RNA signatures, including novel transcripts, that differentiate BC from healthy controls, characterize histological and molecular subtypes, and indicate lymph node involvement.

Rearing of catfish (Clarias batrachus Lin.) larvae with live and prepared feeds [PDF]

open access: yes, 1998
Provision or live feed (Tubificid worms) attributed significantly better weight gain in the five days old Clarias batrachus larvae when reared for another 28 days compared to those fed mixed feed (live and artificial) and artificial feed only. Larvae fed

Obstetric and long-term kidney outcomes in renal transplant recipients: a 40 year single-centre study [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Female renal transplant recipients of childbearing age may ask what the outcomes are for pregnancy and whether pregnancy will affect graft function. We analyzed obstetric and transplant outcomes among renal transplant recipients in our center who have ...

Growth and the Relation Between Live Weight and Feed Consumption in the Case of White Pekin Ducklings

open access: yes, 1928
THE RELATION BETWEEN LIVE WEIGHT AND FEED CONSUMPTION Horton1 has recently obtained the average live weight and the average feed consumption of a group of 183 White Pekin ducklings a , at intervals of one week, from the time of hatching until the age of ...

Bridging the gap: Multi‐stakeholder perspectives of molecular diagnostics in oncology

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Although molecular diagnostics is transforming cancer care, implementing novel technologies remains challenging. This study identifies unmet needs and technology requirements through a two‐step stakeholder involvement. Liquid biopsies for monitoring applications and predictive biomarker testing emerge as key unmet needs. Technology requirements vary by

Comparison of nine growth curve models to describe growth of partridges(Alectoris chukar)

open access: yesJournal of Applied Animal Research, 2019
In this study, nine non linear growth curve models were used to determine the goodness of fit by the body weight measurements of the total number of 178 partridges(Alectoris chukar), 93 females, and 85 males, respectively.

Missense mutations in exon 2 of the porcine leptin receptor gene and their associations with litter size and body weight

open access: yesCzech Journal of Animal Science, 2009
Leptin receptor (LEPR) gene is regarded as a "candidate-gene" of production traits. The aims of this study were to detect polymorphisms of exon 2 within LEPR gene and to investigate their associations with production traits, litter size and live weight ...

An Unparalleled Sexual Dimorphism of Sperm Whale Encephalization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The sperm whale Physeter macrocephalus (Linnaeus, 1758) is the largest toothed whales and possesses the highest absolute values for brain weight on the planet (together with the killer whale Orcinus orca).
