Frizzled-2 small interfering RNA protects hepatic BRL-3A cells against Hypoxia / Reoxygenation via modulation of autophagy

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology, 2020
Background/Aims: Autophagy plays a positive role in the prevention of liver damage after hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury (HIRI); however, the molecular mechanism is still a mystery.

Loss of noradrenaline transporter sites in frontal cortex of rats with acute (ischemic) liver failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
There is increasing evidence that central noradrenaline (NA) transport mechanisms are implicated in the central nervous system complications of acute liver failure.

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Macrophage Activation Markers, CD163 and CD206, in Acute-on-Chronic Liver Failure

open access: yesCells, 2020
Macrophages facilitate essential homeostatic functions e.g., endocytosis, phagocytosis, and signaling during inflammation, and express a variety of scavenger receptors including CD163 and CD206, which are upregulated in response to inflammation.

Atrial natriuretic factor [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
The discovery of the first well-defined natriuretic hormone, the Atrial Natriuretic Factor (ANF), has prompted research on its impact on volume regulation in health and disease.

Subtype‐specific enhancer RNAs define transcriptional regulators and prognosis in breast cancers

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study employed machine learning methodologies to perform the subtype‐specific classification of RNA‐seq data sets, which are mapped on enhancers from TCGA‐derived breast cancer patients. Their integration with gene expression (referred to as ProxCReAM eRNAs) and chromatin accessibility profiles has the potential to identify lineage‐specific and ...

Liver Transplantation in the Context of Acute-On-Chronic Liver Failure (ACLF): Where Do We Stand in 2025?

open access: yesTransplant International
Acute-on-chronic liver failure (ACLF) is a critical condition that arises in the context of advanced liver disease, marked by rapid liver function deterioration and associated multi-organ failure.

MARS therapy, the bridging to liver retransplantation-Three cases from the Hungarian liver transplant program [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Besides orthotopic liver transplantation (OLT) there is no long-term and effective replacement therapy for severe liver failure. Artificial extracorporeal liver supply devices are able to reduce blood toxin levels, but do not replace any synthetic ...

Dimethyl fumarate combined with cisplatin at subcytotoxic doses sensitizes cervical cancer toward ferroptosis and apoptosis through GSH restriction and p53 (re)activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dimethyl fumarate (DMF) reduces growth of HPV‐positive cervical cancer spheroids and induces ferroptosis in cervical cancer cells via blocking SLC7A11/Glutathione (GSH) axis. Combination of subcytotoxic doses of DMF and cisplatin (CDDP) further suppresses spheroid growth and drives cell death in 2D culture models.

Indocyanine green elimination test in orthotopic liver recipients. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
OBJECTIVE: To determine its predictive capability on graft quality and resultant clinical outcome, the indocyanine green (ICG) elimination test was performed by a spectrophotometric method and a noninvasive finger-piece method with 50 orthotopic liver ...
