Effects of exogenous superoxide anion and nitric oxide on the scavenging function and electron microscopic appearance of the sinusoidal endothelium in the isolated, perfused rat liver

open access: closedJournal of Hepatology, 1999
Functional and morphological alterations of the hepatic sinusoidal endothelial cell occur in several models of experimental liver injury and in clinical settings. The causes of these alterations are multiple. The aim of this study was to test the hypothesis that the early functional impairment and morphological alterations of the sinusoidal endothelial

THE EFFECT OF ESTROGENS ON THE MICROSCOPIC APPEARANCE OF THE LIVER

open access: closedJAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1941
The clinical use of the synthetic estrogen diethylstilbestrol is accompanied by untoward symptoms of nausea and vomiting in a considerable number of cases. The explanation of these symptoms and the extent of toxicity of the substance are still matters of debate, but the question has been raised whether the drug may produce liver damage.

Microscopic appearance of the liver lesions caused by Fascioloides magna in a roe deer

2022
To Europe Fascioloides magna is an alien trematode species which originates from the North American deer species, mainly the white-tailed deer. Roe deer (Capreolus capreolus) represents an aberrant host of F. magna in which permanent migration of juvenile flukes causes heavy destruction of the liver tissue leading to the death of the animal.
