Duck Orbivirus and Egg Production: A Newly Identified Duck Orbivirus Is the Etiological Agent of Egg Production Decline in Chinese Breeder Ducks

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Field samples from breeder duck farms with egg‐production decline were subjected to viral detection, genome sequencing, and virus isolation. Experimental infection demonstrated that duck orbivirus (DORV) causes a significant and persistent reduction in egg production in breeder ducks.

A Recombinant Porcine Epidemic Diarrhea Virus with Multiple S2 Subunit Mutations from China: Isolation, Genetic Characterization, and Pathogenicity Analysis

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV) is a major cause of fatal diarrhea in piglets. The continuous emergence of new variants, driven by recombination and mutation, poses a persistent global threat to the swine industry, resulting in significant ...

Economics of controlling livestock diseases: basic theory. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Extends the simple model of the economics of controlling livestock disease as first presented by McInerney (1991) to take account of start-up costs which give use to thresholds effects. A further extension is given to allow for economics of such in disease control which can also have a threshold effect.

Use of Clotrimazole in Finfish Aquaculture: Mechanistic Insights, Limitations, and Future Directions for Antifungal Therapy

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
This review critically evaluates clotrimazole as a potential antifungal for finfish aquaculture, highlighting strong mechanistic and in vitro efficacy against aquatic mycoses alongside major gaps in in vivo evidence, toxicokinetics, residue safety, and environmental risk, outlining priorities for responsible therapeutic development and regulatory ...

ZBED6 Knockout Promotes Skeletal Muscle Development in Bama Pigs by Relieving Transcriptional Repression of CDKN1A

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Integrated transcriptomic and functional analyses identify CDKN1A as a direct target of ZBED6 in Bama pigs. ZBED6 knockout relieves transcriptional repression of CDKN1A, thereby promoting myogenic differentiation and skeletal muscle development.

Effects of an Organic Acid Blend on Growth Performance, Redox Homeostasis, and Intestinal Microbiota of Broilers in an Antibiotic‐Free Production System Under Winter Environmental Challenges

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Schematic summary of the effects of organic acids on growth performance and gut health‐related parameters in broilers. ABSTRACT This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of an organic acid blend on growth performance, redox homeostasis, and intestinal microbiota of broilers raised in an antibiotic‐free system during the winter season in China ...

Effects of Dietary Mannan Oligosaccharides on Growth, Disease Resistance, and Gut Microbiota in Zebrafish

open access: yesAnimal Research and One Health, EarlyView.
Supplementation with mannan oligosaccharides (MOS) enhances growth, disease resistance, antioxidant capacity, and gut microbiota diversity while suppressing inflammation, apoptosis, and strengthening intestinal barrier integrity in zebrafish challenged with LPS or DSS.
