From "Living" Carbocationic to "Living" Radical Polymerization

Journal of Macromolecular Science, Part A, 1994
Abstract “Living” carbocationic polymerization is compared to the “living” radical process. Similarities and differences are discussed. “Living” radical polymerization of vinyl acetate and methyl methacrylate to provide polymers with controlled molecular weights and narrow molecular weight distribution (Mw/Mn < 1.2) are presented.

Living carbocationic polymerization

Polymer Bulletin, 1993
Laboratory scale glass equipment was designed, assembled, and used for the continuous preparation by living cationic polymerization of tert-Cl monotelechelic polyisobutylene (PIB-Cl t ). The process involves the continuous feeding of controlled amounts of isobutylene, a stream of premixed initiator (2-chloro-2,4,4-trimethylpentane and electron donor ...

Living carbocationic polymerization

Polymer Bulletin, 1992
Living carbocationic polymerization of isobutylene (IB) was achieved by the 2-chloro-2,4,4-trimethylpentane (TMPCl)/TiCl 4 initiating systems in the presence of KCl in conjuction with the 18-crown-6 ether in CH 2 Cl 2 /hexanes solvent mixture at -80°C; The rate of initiation is relatively slow and the molecular weight distribution of the polymer ...

Living diradical polymerization

Macromolecular Rapid Communications, 1996
AbstractA diradical initiator containing two thermoreversible bonds was prepared and used for the polymerization of styrene at 90°C. The monomer consumption and the variation of the molecular weight were monitored with time. The results show that the process can be considered as living and that the polymerization rate is independent of the radical ...
