A method for calculating the localisation length, with an analysis of the Lloyd model

Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics, 1983
A method is developed to calculate the localisation length in disordered systems. It can be considered to be a generalisation of the method of Herbert, Jones and Thouless (1971-2) for one-dimensional systems, to wires and nu -dimensional lattices.

Low-stray-light gratings fabricated with scanning exposure method based on Lloyd’s mirror for a high-contrast near-eye display in augmented reality

Applied Optics, 2022
The stray light of gratings lowers the image contrast of augmented reality display devices based on lightguide gratings. We propose to reduce the stray light of gratings fabricated with the scanning exposure method in a Lloyd’s mirror interferometer setup.

In-situ method for removing refractive index chirp in fiber Bragg grating photo-written by Lloyd mirror

Optical Fiber Technology, 2003
A novel method to reduce the index chirp of fiber Bragg gratings and improve the spectral response is proposed and demonstrated. The experimental layout includes a doubled Argon UV laser (244 nm) and an interferometric Lloyd mirror assembly mounted on a translation stage.

Frank Lloyd Wright's textile block: the essential qualities, challenges and alternative methods

2016
Frank Lloyd Wright had a vision for an inexpensive and versatile concrete masonry system he dubbed the ?textile block?. It was meant to be locally produced and assembled without special skills in order to help solve the middle-income housing problem. Many of the buildings constructed with the blocks were highly acclaimed (and still are), but there were

A method to obtain better codebooks for vector quantizers than those achieved by the generalized Lloyd algorithm

17th Convention of Electrical and Electronics Engineers in Israel, 2002
The method is based on a deterministic on-line design technique (similar to the Kohonen learning scheme) which incorporates principles of stochastic relaxation. In contrast to the Kohonen winner-take-all competition between the candidate codevectors, it performs a 'soft' competition where each codevector is assigned a winning score and all codevectors ...

Local Search k-means++ with Foresight

The Sea
Since its introduction in 1957, Lloyd's algorithm for $k$-means clustering has been extensively studied and has undergone several improvements. While in its original form it does not guarantee any approximation factor at all, Arthur and Vassilvitskii ...
