LMDI decomposition approach: A guide for implementation

Energy Policy, 2015
Since it was first used by researchers to analyze industrial electricity consumption in the early 1980s, index decomposition analysis (IDA) has been widely adopted in energy and emission studies. Lately its use as the analytical component of accounting frameworks for tracking economy-wide energy efficiency trends has attracted considerable attention ...

Integrating LMDI and Machine Learning for Industrial Carbon Emissions Analysis

open access: yes
AbstractThe study's objectives are to factorize industrial sector carbon emissions (ISCE) into eleven predetermined factors, predict ISCE and validate the predicted ISCE value. The study uses multiplicative Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI), Artificial Neural Network (ANN) and Random Forest (RF) models to examine ISCE between 2000 and 2020.

CO2 emissions in China’s power industry by using the LMDI method

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2022
WIth the introduction of "carbon peak and neutrality" targets, China's power industry is under enormous pressure to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, as it produces more than 40% of emissions. In response, China's power industry is actively reducing the investment in thermal energy and gradually shifting toward non-fossil energy sources.

What are the determinants of wastewater discharge reduction in China? Decomposition analysis by LMDI

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2022
Wastewater discharge reduction (WDR) is a key breakthrough point for China's environmental protection. Based on China's 30 provincial data from 2011 to 2017, this paper applied the logarithmic mean Divisia index (LMDI) method to clarify the determinants of WDR at national, regional, and provincial levels.

Study on Chinese industrial SO2 emission intensity based on LMDI I and LMDI II method

2010 International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2010
Based on logarithmic mean Divisia index method I and II, the factors impacting the changes of Chinese industrial SO 2 emission intensity are decomposed into SO 2 production intensity effect, government control effect (policy effect) and industrial structural effect. Using data of 1998 to 2006, result shows that the main driver behind the reduction of
