Driving forces of China’s CO2 emissions from energy consumption based on Kaya-LMDI methods

Science of The Total Environment, 2020
Anthropogenic carbon emission gives rise to a situation where global warming is becoming serious. China is paying for reducing carbon emissions. The concept of carbon curse suggests that countries rich in fossil fuels tend to be closely linked to high carbon emissions, but this is not absolute, which reminds policymakers that the policies implemented ...

CO2 emissions in China’s power industry by using the LMDI method

Environmental Science and Pollution Research, 2022
WIth the introduction of "carbon peak and neutrality" targets, China's power industry is under enormous pressure to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, as it produces more than 40% of emissions. In response, China's power industry is actively reducing the investment in thermal energy and gradually shifting toward non-fossil energy sources.

Analysis and Prediction of China's Energy Consumption Based on LMDI Method

2009 International Joint Conference on Computational Sciences and Optimization, 2009
China is now experiencing rapid development and has become the second largest energy consumer. China has presented the objectives of building a well off society in an all round way at the 16th National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2002. Without question, the future society, with higher level of modernization and standard of living, will ...

Decomposition analysis of China's electricity intensity with LMDI method

International Journal of Global Energy Issues, 2009
Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index I (LMDI I) method is used to decompose China's Aggregate Electricity Intensity (CAEI) into structure effect and intensity effect at the 29-sub-sector level. The decomposition result shows that the intensity effect played a major role on the decline of CAEI during 1995-1999.

Study on Chinese industrial SO2 emission intensity based on LMDI I and LMDI II method

2010 International Conference on Mechanic Automation and Control Engineering, 2010
Based on logarithmic mean Divisia index method I and II, the factors impacting the changes of Chinese industrial SO 2 emission intensity are decomposed into SO 2 production intensity effect, government control effect (policy effect) and industrial structural effect. Using data of 1998 to 2006, result shows that the main driver behind the reduction of

Driving Force Analysis of the Agricultural Water Footprint in China Based on the LMDI Method

Environmental Science & Technology, 2014
China's water scarcity problems have become more severe because of the unprecedented economic development and population explosion. Considering agriculture's large share of water consumption, obtaining a clear understanding of Chinese agricultural consumptive water use plays a key role in addressing China's water resource stress and providing ...

Analysis of Carbon Emissions from China's Petrochemical Industries Using the LMDI Method

2010 International Conference on E-Product E-Service and E-Entertainment, 2010
Based on time series decomposition of the Logarithmic Mean Divisia Index (LMDI), this paper analyzes the contribution that economic activity, industrial structure and carbon emissions intensity, namely economic activity effects, structural effects and technical effects, make to the change of carbon emissions quantitatively from China's petrochemical ...

Decomposing the influencing factors of industrial carbon emissions in Shanghai using the LMDI method

Energy, 2010
Abstract Knowledge of influencing factors of industrial carbon emissions (ICE) is crucial to the efforts of reducing anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. In this paper, main factors responsible for the ICE in Shanghai between 1996 and 2007 were identified and quantitatively analyzed using the Log-Mean Divisia Index method.

Decomposing the Influencing Factors of China’s Industrial Wastewater Discharges Using LMDI I Method

Advanced Materials Research, 2012
China’s industry accounts for 46.8% of the national gross domestic product (GDP) and plays an important strategic role to its economic growth, but it is also the main water pollution sources. In order to identify the relationship between the underlying driving forces and various environmental indicators, two critical industrial wastewater pollutant ...
