Health Outcomes in Children and Adolescents With Overweight or Obesity Exposed to Physical Activity Interventions: An Umbrella Review Covering Over 1200 Trials

open access: yesObesity Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Childhood and adolescent obesity poses health risks. Standardizing outcome measurements in physical activity interventions enhances evidence comparability. This study summarizes health outcomes reported in systematic reviews and classifies them under an existing taxonomy as a preliminary step toward the future development of a core outcome set.

Latent profile analysis of resilience among people with serious mental illness

open access: yesPsychology and Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice, EarlyView.
Abstract Objectives Resilience is a critical indicator of the personal recovery process for people with serious mental illness (SMI). However, little is known about resilience subtypes among this population. Grounded in Kumpfer's resilience model (KRM), the study aims to identify latent types of resilience among people with SMI using latent profile ...

A systemic model for lossy mode resonances (LMRs)

open access: yesOptics & Laser Technology
Lossy mode resonances (LMRs) have been widely employed for the development of sensors in the last years. However, the theoretical frameworks for LMRs are scarce and difficult to systematize, hampering the development of this technology. In this work, we propose a new systemic model for assessing LMRs in arbitrary waveguide configurations, based solely ...

Thermal Safety Margins and Peak Leaf Temperatures Predict Vulnerability of Diverse Plant Species to an Experimental Heatwave

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Extreme heat can push plants beyond their thermal safety margin (TSM) if maximum leaf temperature (Tleaf_max) exceeds leaf critical temperature (Tcrit). The TSM is potentially useful for assessing heat vulnerability across species but needs further validation, so we exposed 50 tree/shrub species in controlled glasshouses to a 6‐day heatwave ...

Valproic acid for treatment of traumatic brain injury: Study protocol for the VIBRANT prospective randomized trial

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Traumatic brain injury (TBI) carries significant mortality and morbidity in civilian and military populations. Current treatment guidelines for TBI are primarily supportive, and no pharmacological agent exists to attenuate the progression of brain injury.

Does livestock manure recycling among acquaintance networks decouple crop and livestock production? Evidence from rural China

open access: yesAgricultural Economics (AGRICECON)
Livestock manure serves as a vital source of organic fertiliser, with efficient utilisation being crucial for sustainable agricultural development. However, with the development of specialised high-input agriculture, livestock manure recycling (LMR) is ...

Serum‐derived albumin as a cryoprotective agent for the long‐term storage of red blood cells: A preliminary examination

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Cryopreservation extends the shelf life of red blood cells (RBC) from weeks to years, offering major advantages for blood banking logistics, especially in remote environments. However, current glycerol‐based methods, though effective, are limited in scope due to complex post‐thaw washing and incompatibility with routine clinical ...

The Mediating Effect of Inflammatory Biomarkers in the Associations Between Sarcoidosis and Incident Ischemic Stroke: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 4, April 2026.
Can invasive suckermouth catfish, Hypostomus plecostomus, be used as fishmeal? A potential solution to eradicate it from the Buriganga River, Bangladesh ABSTRACT Background and objective: Sarcoidosis, characterized by granulomatous inflammation across multiple systems, has an unclear connection with ischemic stroke and shared molecular pathways.
