Far-infrared LMR detection of hydroxymethyl

Abstract Laser magnetic resonance spectra of the free hydroxymethyl radical, produced by the reaction of atomic chlorine with methanol vapor, have been observed at several laser wavelengths between 118 and 657 μm. The spectra are identified by chemical tests and by comparison with the ESR spectrum of hydroxymethyl in solids and liquids.

Analysis of the LMR spectra of methoxy, CH3O

The rotation spectrum of the free methoxy radical (CH3O) has been measured at 18 discrete wavelengths between 0.25 and 0.65 mm by the laser magnetic resonance method. A least-squares fit to the measured spectra yields precise values for the molecular parameters of the 2E ground state of CH3O.
