Robust Load Frequency Control

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1989
Abstract It is highly desirable that any control system is not affected by modeling errors or parameter variations of a controlled object. This paper presents an application of a robust feedback control system to load frequency control of an interconnected power system. In the design of this control system, parameter variations in a controlled object

Optimal Decentralized Load-Frequency Control

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1984
Abstract An optimal decentralized load-frequency control of a multi-area intercon-nected power system is developed. It features the optimal design of decentralized load-frequency controller, the observer for unmeasurable local states and load disturbances, and ttie quadratic estimator for discrete tie-line power flow information.

Estimation and Prediction in Load frequency Control

2007 International Conference on Power Engineering, Energy and Electrical Drives, 2007
Many controllers designed for load-frequency control (LFC) in power system are based on the knowledge of system state, which is generally not measured. This paper presents a method for estimation of disturbance and system state in LFC. In power systems, measurement signals and control signals are transmitted over long distances between controller and ...

Digital Load Frequency Control

2020 6th IEEE International Energy Conference (ENERGYCon), 2020
Frequency of power supply system needs to be kept constant or fixed irrespective of the varying changes in load demand in order to ensure the well-being of power generating equipment and delivery of good quality power at the demand side. This paper presents an enhanced digital PD controller for Load Frequency Control (LFC) of UAE power system based on ...

Load frequency control using classical controllers

ARID ZONE JOURNAL OF ENGINEERING, TECHNOLOGY AND ENVIRONMENT, 2022
This paper presents a solution to the problem of load frequency control of a two area power system using PI and PID controllers. In electric power systems, the load demand varies at different times of the day and these load variations lead to changes in frequency of the power system.

Load-frequency control service in a deregulated environment

Decision Support Systems, 1999
In a deregulated environment, independent generators and utility generators may or may not participate in the load frequency control of the system. For the purpose of evaluating the performance of such a system, a flexible method has been developed and implemented.

Constrained Load-frequency Control

Electric Power Components and Systems, 2008
Abstract Load-frequency control (LFC) is one of the major problems when dealing with the design and/or operation of electric power systems. Moreover, due to practical and physical considerations, bounds are often imposed on the level of control signals as well as the maximum frequency deviation. Control strategies that satisfy systems constraints, and,

Advanced Load Frequency Control

IEEE Transactions on Power Apparatus and Systems, 1972
The problem of designing a load frequency control law which reduces transient frequency oscillations (swings) and reduces the number of control signals sent to power houses is investigated. A linear model of an area of an interconnected power system is developed, and a discrete time, linear-plus-deadband, feedback control law is designed.
