Analysis of Treacher Collins syndrome 4‐associated mutations in Schizosaccharomyces pombe

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Fission yeast models carrying Treacher Collins syndrome type 4‐associated mutations reveal that impaired processivity of RNA polymerase I leads to defective rRNA transcription. This study highlights the essential role of a conserved arginine residue in Pol I elongation and provides mechanistic insight into the pathogenesis of ribosomopathies.

Deformation at low and high stress-loading rates

open access: yesGeoscience Frontiers, 2019
Abstract In an extensional shear zone in the Talea Ori, Crete, quartz veins occur in high-pressure low-temperature metamorphic sediments at sites of dilation along shear band boundaries, kink band boundaries and boudin necks. Bent elongate grains grown epitactically from the host rock with abundant fluid inclusion trails parallel to the vein wall ...

Molecular dynamics study of contact mechanics: contact area and interfacial separation from small to full contact [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
We report a molecular dynamics study of the contact between a rigid solid with a randomly rough surface and an elastic block with a flat surface. We study the contact area and the interfacial separation from small contact (low load) to full contact (high

Hands‐on protocol for preparing water‐soluble fractions from agri‐food samples for NMR‐based metabolomics analysis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This research protocol outlines a workflow for nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR)‐based metabolomics in the agri‐food sector. Using two case studies—strawberry leaves (solid matrix) and wine (liquid matrix)—it details the procedures for sample preparation, data acquisition, and processing.

ATP13A2 is involved in intracellular polyamine transport in lung epithelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Spermidine transport in lung epithelial cells involves the polyamine transporter ATP13A2. Cell proliferation is associated with the upregulation of ATP13A2. Polyamines are present in all living cells and are implicated in various crucial cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis and autophagy.

Portable pallet weighing apparatus [PDF]

open access: yes, 1984
An assembly for use with several like units in weighing the mass of a loaded cargo pallet supported by its trunnions has a bridge frame for positioning the assembly on a transportation frame carrying the pallet while straddling one trunnion of the pallet

Depth-sensing indentation tests in studying plastic instabilities [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
This review surveys the phenomenon of plastic instabilities occurring in depth-sensing indentation measurements. Investigations presented focus on the characterization of Portevin-Le Chatelier type instabilities observed in different metal alloys during ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Reaction force of ship stern bearing in hull large deformation based on stochastic theory

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2020
A theoretical calculation model for ship stern bearings with large hull deformation is established and validated theoretically and experimentally. A hull simulation model is established to calculate hull deformations corresponding to the reaction force ...
