Load-Bearing Capacity of Tempered Structural Glass

Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 1999
This paper presents a method for the failure analysis of structural glass components of buildings. Structural glass is generally prestressed by tempering. In the method, residual stresses are first computed by simulation of this tempering process of soda-lime-silica glass plates using the finite-element method.

LOAD-CARRYING CAPACITY OF JOURNAL BEARINGS

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1947

DYNAMICALLY loaded bearings on which the load alternates or rotates in direction and on which the load intensity is constant or varies are discussed here. Practical bearing engineering, the authors say, has neglected this type although it represents the most important bearings in aircraft and ...

Bearing Capacity of Eccentrically Loaded Footings

Journal of the Soil Mechanics and Foundations Division, 1971
The bearing capacity of an eccentrically loaded footing is determined by analytical formulation. In this analysis, the footing has been considered rigid with a rough base. It has been assumed that the rupture surface is a log spiral, and failure occurs on the same side as the eccentricity with respect to the center of the footing.
