Connection Admission versus Load Balancing

2010 IEEE Global Telecommunications Conference GLOBECOM 2010, 2010
We present an analytical framework for modeling a priority-based load balancing scheme in cellular networks. The model differs in many respects from previous work on load balancing, in particular by incorporating the call admission process, through random access; allowing differentiation of users based on their priorities; and by incorporating the ...

Eccentrically Loaded Bolted Connections

Journal of the Structural Division, 1971
Although present methods of investigating eccentrically loaded fastener groups have produced safe designs, the factor of safety is, in general, unknown. A rational theoretical method of predicting the ultimate load on eccentrically loaded fastener groups is developed.

Impact Loads in Steel Connections

IABSE Reports, 2013
<p>After attacks on World Trade Center (2001), Madrid (2004), London (2005) and Mumbai (2008), special attention was given to the study of robust structures subjected at different accidental loads, allowing localized failure without being damaged to an extent disproportionate to the original cause.

Eccentrically Loaded Welded Connections

Journal of the Structural Division, 1972
Although present methods of investigating eccentrically loaded weld groups have produced safe designs, the factor of safety is, in general, unknown. An analytical method of predicting the ultimate load on eccentrically loaded weld groups is developed. The method uses the true load-deformation response of the welds rather than some idealized one.

Load-balancing for advance reservation connection rerouting

IEEE Communications Letters, 2010
This paper studies rerouting in advance reservation networks. Namely, a novel load-balancing scheme is proposed to reroute admitted inactive reservations in order to lower blocking probability and improve future bandwidth utilization. Detailed algorithms are outlined in the form of pseudo-code, followed by analyses of related time and space ...

Axial-Load Resistance of a Novel UHPFRC Grouted SHS Tube-Sleeve Connection: Experimental, Numerical, and Theoretical Approaches [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Structural Engineering, 2021
Experimental, numerical, and theoretical analyses were conducted of the axial load resistance of a novel ultrahigh-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) grouted square hollow section (SHS) tube sleeve connection. The experimental study tested 10

Comparison of load-balancing approaches for multipath connectivity

Computer Networks, 2012
During past years, the so-called resource pooling principle in data networks has been studied more carefully. For example, the recent work on routing on the Internet over multiple paths and Multipath TCP both seek to make the best possible use of multiple connecting paths between two end points.

The load‐deformation characteristics of connective tissues

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1974
AbstractFollowing the classification of tissues according to their “dominant” and “interactive” components the paper surveys their load‐deformation behavior, highlighting in particular the significance of time dependence. This leads to a discussion of the implant/tissue interaction in which the complexity that could be created by varying load and ...

Limit Loads of Bolted Flange Connections

Volume 3: Fluid Structure Interaction; High Pressure Technology, 2021
Abstract High-pressure applications such as process piping, pressure vessels, risers, pipelines, and subsea production systems use bolted flange connections. Design of flanged joints may be done by design by rules and design by analysis. This paper presents a design by rules method applicable for flanges designed for face-to-face make-up.

Design of eccentrically loaded steel connections

Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering, 1997
The strength of eccentrically loaded steel connections is reduced compared with concentrically loaded ones. The reduction can be evaluated with the capacity reduction factor, which depends on the magnitude of the eccentricity relative to connection dimensions.
