A Modified Backward/Forward Sweep Load Flow Method for Islanded Radial Microgrids
IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, 2019In this paper, a modified backward/forward sweep (BFS) load flow algorithm is proposed to solve power flow for islanded droop-controlled ac microgrids. The proposed method has been formulated such that the system frequency is one of the system’s unknown ...

The load flow is one of the most fundamental tools used in power system analysis. The need for a load flow approach, which would incorporate uncertainty into the solution process, has been long recognized. The boundary load flow finds solutions given uncertain nodal powers.

The use of Newton-Raphson load flows to locate type-one equilibria for determining domains of attraction for transient stability analysis or for examining voltage collapse has become common. It is known that Newton's method for real equations can produce true fractals behavior.

The load flow study has been at the center of studies made for designing and operating power systems for many years. It is well known that forecasted data used in load flow studies contain errors that affect the solution, as can be evidenced by running many cases perturbing the input data.

This paper extends to the load flow problem the factorized solution methodology recently developed for equality-constrained state estimation. This is done by considering a redundant set of initial conditions in order to transform the undetermined system arising in the first linear stage into an overdetermined one.

Nonparametric Probabilistic Load Flow With Saddle Point Approximation
IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid, 2018Because of uncertainties of renewable generation resources and load, efficient tools are required for load flow analysis in power systems. Many of the existing papers assume a set of given probability density functions (PDFs) to model uncertainties and ...

Load flow studies are an essential task carried out in power system planning and operations. However, the widely used deterministic load flow analysis is limited in their handling of network uncertainties or inaccuracies in input data. Therefore, probabilistic load flow (PLF) based on either numerical methods (such as Monte Carlo simulation) or an ...
