Control variable adjustment in load flows
IEEE Transactions on Power Systems, 1988A linear programming type approach is used to adjust all adjustable loadflow variables with respect to specified constraints. The technique is applicable to the Newton-coupled (and -decoupled) as well as the fast-decoupled load flows. The coordinated adjustment of all adjustable variables improves the convergence of the load-flow program and results in

Flow control and dynamic load balancing in Time Warp
Proceedings 33rd Annual Simulation Symposium (SS 2000), 2002We present an algorithm which integrates flow control and dynamic load balancing in Time Warp. The algorithm is intended for use in a distributed memory environment. Our flow control algorithm makes use of stochastic learning automata and is similar to the leaky-bucket flow control algorithm used in computer networks.

Evaluating load flow capability with thermostically controllable building loads
2015 North American Power Symposium (NAPS), 2015Through demand side management programs, buildings are increasingly being used to provide respite where generation inadequacies exist. Buildings are commonly dispatched as thermostatically controllable loads by adjusting internal temperature setpoints. Thermal load variations can be attributed to the HVAC equipment and are highly dependent on internal ...

Flow Control of Extreme Pressure Loads Associated with Flow Separation
Journal of Engineering Mechanics, 2016AbstractActive flow control is applied at different locations over a surface-mounted prism to reduce extreme pressure coefficient and loads. Different control strategies including blowing, suction, and synthetic jets are evaluated. The full unsteady Navier–Stokes equations are solved to determine the pressure coefficients.

A Load Control Mechanism for Data‐Flow Machines
Systems and Computers in Japan, 1988AbstractThe data‐flow computer is based essentially on parallel computation. Consequently, it is essential in the realization of such high‐level management and control functions as resource management to control the parallelism and parallel expansion.

Flow Stealer: lightweight load balancing by stealing flows in distributed SDN controllers
Science China Information Sciences, 2017Software-defined networking (SDN) introduces centralized controllers to increase network programmability drastically. Distributed control planes, in which multiple SDN controllers work together to manage a network, have been proposed to satisfy the requirements of large-scale networks, and different kinds of load-balancing approaches have been proposed

Control setting of unified power flow controllers through a robust load flow calculation
IEE Proceedings - Generation, Transmission and Distribution, 1999The unified power flow controller (UPFC) provides a promising means to control power flow in modern power systems. Essentially, the performance depends on proper control setting achievable through a power flow analysis program. The paper presents a reliable method to meet the requirements by developing a Newton–Raphson based load flow calculation ...

Study on load frequency control using Redox flow batteries
IEEE Power Engineering Society General Meeting, 2004., 2004Summary form only given. Rechargeable batteries such as Redox flow, which are not aged by frequent charging and discharging, have a quick response equivalent to SMES and outstanding function during overload. The battery efficiency increases when the cycle period of charging/discharging becomes shorter.

The performance of adaptive window flow controls in a dynamic load environment
Proceedings. IEEE INFOCOM '90: Ninth Annual Joint Conference of the IEEE Computer and Communications Societies@m_The Multiple Facets of Integration, 2002The behavior of window flow control schemes that adapt to changing network conditions is studied. A dynamic window scheme, which adjusts the window size based on explicit network congestion indicators, is proposed. The throughput performance of the adaptive policy under both steady-state and nonstationary conditions is studied.

Load Sensing Hydraulic Flow Control - A Versatile Controller
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1978<div class="htmlview paragraph">A simple spool valve combined with load sensing principles is used for precision flow control on demand. This type of valve, even though it has been in use for about ten years, received new attention during the energy crunch of 1974 and the subsequent interest in load sensing systems The load sensing flow control ...
