Power-balancing compensation mechanism and method for controllable load reduction

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2023
In the coming renewable energy-dominated power systems, their uncertain nature calls for a controllable load to track the change of renewable energy. To achieve power balance during peak load, a compensation mechanism for the controllable load to reduce ...

Load reduction instruction policy

open access: yes, 2021
Research has shown that explicit instruction is significantly associated with students’ achievement gains. This is because it presents learning material in a way that reduces the cognitive burden on students as they learn.

Rotor Loads Reduction by Dynamically Extendable Chord [PDF]

open access: yesAIAA Journal, 2020
Dynamically extendable blade chord sections show promise for reducing helicopter rotor loads. A rotor model based on an elastic beam concept, and capable of predicting helicopter power, is used. A stiff in-plane four-bladed rotor with a shape similar to the UH-60A rotor is used as a baseline for comparisons. For the control of the 4/rev (per revolution)

Infant Embryonal CNS Tumors: Molecular Insights and Treatment Considerations for Contemporary Pediatric Neuro‐Oncology

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Embryonal tumors comprise the majority of malignant central nervous system (CNS) neoplasms diagnosed in children under 3 years of age. Compared with their counterparts in older children, these tumors exhibit distinct molecular biology and a more aggressive clinical phenotype, while their management is complicated by the heightened ...

Provider and Parent Perspectives on Prioritizing the “Asking and Monitoring” Pediatric Cancer Psychosocial Standards of Care

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background The Standards for Psychosocial Care for Children with Cancer and Their Families (“Standards”) are evidence‐based guidelines for psychosocial care in pediatric oncology. Care related to the three “Asking and Monitoring” Standards—Assessment of Psychosocial Needs, Assessment of Financial Needs, and Monitoring Neurocognitive Problems ...

Greening Geographical Load Balancing [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Energy expenditure has become a significant fraction of data center operating costs. Recently, "geographical load balancing" has been suggested to reduce energy cost by exploiting the electricity price differences across regions.

Safety and Effectiveness of a High‐Dose, Tailored Tissue Plasminogen Activator Therapy Protocol: A Joint Pediatric Hematology and Cardiac ICU Quality Improvement Initiative Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric thromboembolism is increasingly encountered in critical care. Systemic thrombolysis with tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) facilitates vessel or valve patency, yet pediatric‐specific protocols remain undefined, and safety concerns persist. Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of a tailored, prolonged systemic tPA

Global Efforts to Reduce Paediatric Cancer Care Disparities in Radiotherapy: A Decade Change

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background We present an update on the status, needs and challenges faced by paediatric imaging and radiotherapy (RT) programmes globally after a previous survey conducted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) 10 years prior. Methods We developed and distributed a 121‐question survey to radiation oncologists, medical physicists and ...
