Hepcidin Is Down‐Regulated in Alcohol Loading

Alcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research, 2007
Background: It is common for alcoholic patients to have excess iron accumulation in the liver, which may contribute to the development of alcoholic liver disease (ALD). However, the mechanism of hepatic iron uptake in ALD is still obscure. Recently, a novel iron‐regulatory hormone hepcidin was found that suppresses the absorption of iron from the ...

An on-chip voltage regulator with improved load regulation and light load power efficiency

19th International Conference on VLSI Design held jointly with 5th International Conference on Embedded Systems Design (VLSID'06), 2006
A new single stage driver circuit with improved load regulation is proposed for an on-chip voltage regulator. The improved load regulation was obtained by adding a load dependent extra current at an appropriate node of the driver circuit. Further, a load sensing circuit is proposed for improving the light load power efficiency of the on-chip voltage ...

Area-efficient linear regulator with ultra-fast load regulation

IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 2005
We demonstrate a fully integrated linear regulator for multisupply voltage microprocessors implemented in a 90 nm CMOS technology. Ultra-fast single-stage load regulation achieves a 0.54-ns response time at 94% current efficiency. For a 1.2-V input voltage and 0.9-V output voltage the regulator enables a 90 mV/sub P-P/ output droop for a 100-mA load ...

Load And Length Regulation Of Cardiac Energetics

Annual Review of Physiology, 1990
Crossbridge cycling and consequent energy utilization during contraction are subject to physiologic regulation by load and length; the length effect on the sensitivity of troponin C to a given [Ca2+]i is an important, newly defined mechanism for this length regulation in cardiac muscle.

Load frequency regulation in power systems

2010 IEEE International Conference on Automation, Quality and Testing, Robotics (AQTR), 2010
This paper focuses on load frequency regulation, as a major function of automatic generation control (AGC) in the context of a versatile power system structure, environmental constrains and emerging new uncertainties. Generation units models are determined in order to build a control diagram used for load dispatch.

Regulation of System Load and Frequency

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1940
Abstract This paper discusses the practices of the Philadelphia Electric Company system in the regulation of system load and frequency, including the scheduling and actual operation of generating capacity with regard to reliability and economy.

Design of decentralised load-frequency regulators

Proceedings of the Institution of Electrical Engineers, 1977
The problem of designing decentralised regulators for the load-frequency control of interconnected energy systems is studied. Starting with stochastic state and output models, a solution of the decentralised-control problem is presented by making use of modelling-error-compensation technique along with bias-estimation procedure.

Renal regulation of bicarbonate loads during hypothermia

American Journal of Physiology-Legacy Content, 1963
The ability of the hypothermic kidney to handle massive exogenous bicarbonate loads was studied in five dogs given 2.6% NaHCO3 plus 0.75% creatinine and 0.1% PAH intravenously at the rate of 4.0 ml/min. The renal hemodynamic pattern was typical of hypothermia with decreasing GFR, RPF, and blood pressure and increasing renal resistance.

On-load transformer tap regulation

Electronics and Power, 1979
The on-load tapchanger contains the only moving parts connected into the transformer windings. Reliability is critical to the very survival of plant valued at many times the cost of the tapchanger: it is called on to operate for up to 40 years with minimal maintenance and to electrical standards compatible with the ...

Regulation of Load Voltages

2015
The restriction of load power , two-valued regulation characteristic, and interference of several loads is observed in power supply systems with limited power of voltage source . In this chapter, the definition of regime in an invariant form through different parameters, of changes of transformation ratio and voltage load is grounded for these circuits
