Do not let thermal drift and instrument artifacts deceive high‐temperature nanoindentation results. We compare classical Oliver–Pharr and automatic image recognition analyses across steels and a Ni alloy to quantify these effects. Accounting for artifacts reveals systematic softening with temperature, while Cr and Ni additions boost resistance ...

Bioinspired Shape‐Memory Hook Fasteners With Programmable Interlocking and Silent Release
Bioinspired hook fasteners made from epoxy shape‐memory polymers are shown to switch between strong, secure attachment and gentle, silent release when heated. By combining programmable geometry and material response, these adaptive fasteners outperform commercial systems in strength and noise control, enabling new solutions for robotics, medical ...

Multi-Agent Deep Reinforcement Learning for Distributed Load Restoration
This paper addresses the load restoration problem after power outage events. Our primary proposed methodology is using multi-agent deep reinforcement learning to optimize the load restoration process in distribution systems, modeled as networked microgrids, via determining the optimal operational sequence of circuit breakers (switches).

In Situ Micromechanical Study of Bimodal γ′–γ″ Precipitate Assemblies in Ni–Cr–Al–Nb Superalloy
A Ni–Cr–Al–Nb superalloy with a bimodal γ′–γ″ precipitate distribution is developed. Composite precipitate assemblies form through heterogeneous nucleation, effectively impeding dislocation motion. Micropillar compression reveals high strength at room and elevated temperatures, governed by precipitate shearing, with coupled faulting mechanisms ...

Photoswitchable Conductive Metal–Organic Frameworks
A conductive material where the conductivity can be modulated remotely by irradiation with light is presented. It is based on films of conductive metal–organic framework type Cu3(HHTP)2 with embedded photochromic molecules such as azobenzene, diarylethene, spiropyran, and hexaarylbiimidazole in the pores.
