Effect of sequence of combined loading on buckling of stiffened shells

Experimental Mechanics, 1988
The vibration-correlation technique, VCT for definition of real boundary conditions, and the method of repeated buckling were employed for nondestructive generation of improved interaction curves for buckling of stringer-stiffened circular-cylindrical shells subjected to a combined axial compression and external-pressure state of loading.

Effects of Cyclic Axial Loading Sequences on Piles in Sand: Centrifuge Modelling

2017
The cyclic axial behaviour of piled foundations in sand is studied using centrifuge tests. Model piles are partially jacked in flight. Loads are applied to identify cyclic tension loading effects in stable and meta-stable zones on pile behaviour and physical failure.

Loading sequence effect on fatigue life of Type 316 stainless steel

International Journal of Fatigue, 2015
Abstract The change in fatigue life due to variable cyclic loading was investigated experimentally in order to consider the loading sequence effect in fatigue damage assessment for a component design, and the reason for the change was discussed. Strain-controlled fatigue tests, that is, two-step, surface removal two-step, repeating two-step and ...

Load Sequence Effects on the Fatigue of Unnotched Composite Materials

1981
A comprehensive version of a fatigue and residual strength degradation model previously developed by the authors is proposed. This theoretical model is capable of predicting the statistical distributions of the fatigue life and the residual strength as well as the effect of load sequence, under variable amplitude or spectrum loadings, on these ...

The effect of load sequence on the statistical fatigue of composites

20th Structures, Structural Dynamics, and Materials Conference, 1979
A theoretical model to predict the effect of loading sequence on the statistical distributions of the fatigue life and the residual strength under n-stress levels of cyclic loading is derived on the basis of a three-parameter model. In particular, the dual stress fatigue cumulative damage is studied, showing that the Miner's sum (the cumulative damage ...

Effects of Load Sequence on Fatigue Crack Growth in Pressure Vessels

Advanced Materials Research, 2010
Low alloy steels such as ASTM A508 and A533 and their equivalent materials have been extensively applied in fabricating pressure vessels due to their relatively excellent mechanical properties and moderately good weldability. The integrity of such materials governs the safety of the power plants.

Variable Loading Sequence Effect for Thermal Fatigue at a Mixing Tee

Volume 3: Design and Analysis, 2019
Abstract Mixing flow causes fluctuations in fluid temperature near the pipe wall and may result in fatigue crack initiation. In a previous study, the authors reported the characteristics of the thermal stress to cause thermal fatigue at a mixing tee.

Load sequence effects on fatigue crack growth in notched tubular specimens subjected to axial and torsion loadings

Theoretical and Applied Fracture Mechanics, 2014
Abstract Fatigue crack growth behavior of tubular specimens with a through thickness circular hole made of a carbon steel subjected to axial and torsional loads was investigate. Loading sequence effect on crack growth rate was also studied by alternating between axial and torsion cycles in a loading block. Mode I crack growth was observed.
